OBJECTIVE: To investigate the factors influencing the contraceptive practice of the female population in the rural area of Thrace, Greece.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective sociopsychological study on representatives of the two major religious subgroups in Thrace: 127 Orthodox Christians and 120 Muslims. The women were reasonably representative in terms of age, education, marital status and professional life. Interviews covered sexual history and contraceptive use in detail.

It is widely known that haemodialysis patients do not readily comply with nutrition guidance. At least 6 months after initiating haemodialysis, the patients' dietary knowledge was tested by use of a questionnaire. The relationship between patient dietary compliance and religion and educational level was studied. Seventy patients were included in the study (33 Christians and 37 Muslims), ages ranging from 24 to 87 years. A serious complication following MDX4-4011 Dow-Corning silicone for injection to the face is reported. The patient developed inflammatory lesions 11 years after her last silicone injection for what was felt to be Weber-Christian disease. Help-seeking attitudes among Arab/Middle Eastern North African (MENA) Americans remain an understudied outcome, despite significant levels of reported mental health concerns. Hand-Schuller-Christian disease is a multifocal variant of eosinophilic granuloma, characterised by the classical triad of bony lesions, exophthalmos and diabetes insipidus. This case relates recurrent Langerhans' cell histiocytosis lesions presented as destruction of periodontal support associated with diabetes in a 10-year-old patient. Medical history suggests that the case represents a case of Hand-Schuller Christian disease.

This online questionnaire was targeted at Christian family members and friends of transgender individuals in Australia. The contribution follows an architectural perspective on the history of hospitals that are conceptualised as locations of Christian charity. It goes into the German, Italian, and especially into the French developments, and it identifies three types of hospitals in 18th century: That of Christian charity, the military lazaretto, and the new prototypes of modem clinics. Two patients with profound decrease of alpha1-antitrypsin (PiZZ) presented with severe pannicultis (Weber-Christian disease); one had systemic panniculitis including pancreatitis. Another possible case is quoted from the literature. Although milder forms of panniculitis can have normal Pi phenotypes and alpha1-antitrypsin levels, the marked reduction of antiproteolytic activity found in PiZZ homozygotes may predispose to or aggravate the lesions of Weber-Christian disease.
