About 50% of cases of pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) are associated with a variety of systemic diseases. We describe a patient with severe PG on both legs who suffered from an autoimmune haemolytic anaemia in association with a congenital deficiency of complement factors C2 and C4. To the best of our knowledge, this constellation has not been previously reported.

C1 Inhibitor deficiency is a rare disorder, characterised by recurrent angio-oedema of skin, upper respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. It can be a mimicker of acute abdomen or anaphylaxis to drug or food and lead on to unnecessary overtreatment. Three case reports of such patients with history of recurrent abdominal pain and angio-oedema due to C1 Inhibitor deficiency is reported here.

A vesiculobullous eruption with clinical and histological features of bullous pemphigoid developed in a 28-year-old woman with proven systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Three families with hereditary angioneurotic oedema (HANE) are described. Serum CI-INH and C4 immunochemical determinations were performed on 23 members of the families: in 6 persons low CI-INH and C4 levels were found with typical symptoms of HANE, and in one asymptomatic subject. Normal ranges of both proteins for adults, children and newborns are given for comparative purposes. The importance of the early diagnosis and treatment is emphasized.

OBJECTIVES: Telitacicept and belimumab are two biological agents approved for treating systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in China. This study mainly discusses the therapeutic efficacy of these two biological agents in SLE.

Serum C3 levels were measured in 211 patients with meningococcal disease. The plasma levels of complement haemolytic activity (CH50) of some complement components and of C3d, a C3 breakdown product, were measured in fifty-nine African children with various types of protein-energy malnutrition (PEM) including kwashiorkor, before and during recovery.
