On April 6, 2020, a confirmed COVID-19 case in a correctional facility employee (Staff A) was reported to the Vermont Department of Health (VDH). The Smallpox Eradication Program, initiated by the WHO in 1966, was originally based on mass vaccination. The program emphasized surveillanc … face-to-face contact. The emphasis therefore shifted to active searches to find cases, coupled with contact tracing, rigorous isolation of patients, and vaccination and surveillance of contacts to contain outbreaks. This shift away from mass vaccination resulted in an acceleration of the program's success.

A retrospective survey of 210 female patients with gonorrhoea who attended the West London Hospital during 4 months of 1973 showed that nine out of ten were diagnosed by tests taken at the first examination. The aim of this study is to analyse the epidemiology of gonorrhoea in the Coventry area between 1991-1994 and the implementation and outcome of partner notification. A total of 404 episodes in 382 patients comprised the study group. In Coventry, 97% of episodes were managed in the STD clinic. The aim of this study was to identify the peculiarities of blood droplets on the street in frosty weather on the surfaces of objects with a negative temperature. The effect of negative ambient temperature (-19 °C) on the morphology of blood droplet traces was experimentally established. BACKGROUND: Limited estimates exist on the population-level impact of partner notification (PN) for gonorrhea, with uncertainty in the influence of local epidemiology on PN effectiveness. An ecologic study in New York found a 6% reduction in diagnoses with a 10% increase in PN coverage.
