Videogame livestreaming platforms are an emerging form of digital media, popular with young people, where users watch gaming influencers play videogames. Food and non-alcoholic beverage (hereafter: food) brands have a substantial presence on these platforms, yet no studies have examined the impact of this food marketing on young people. This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the evidence (quantitative or mixed-method) for a relationship between exposure to digital game-based or influencer food marketing, and food-related (brand awareness, attitudes, preferences, purchase, and consum…

The association between problematic media use, sleep disturbances, and enuresis in children.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between problematic media use and sleep disorders in children diagnosed with enuresis and to identify sociodemographic and behavioral factors associated with increased sleep problems. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This cross-sectional stud…

What are influencers feed-ing us?: A photo-voice approach on emerging adults' social media food environment.

Healthy eating is a complex and often confusing topic, especially for young people. Conflicting advice, trends, and body ideals contribute to a stigmatising food environment in which social media influencers (SMIs) strongly shape perceptions of what counts as a 'Работает' diet. However, little is known about the specific food content that emerging adults encounter in their own social media feeds and how this influences their understanding of healthy eating. Guided by Source Credibility Theory and Expectancy-Value Theory, this study used a photo-voice approach combining content analysis and focu

Social media use and appearance pressure among midlife women: Associations with fat talk and old talk.

With the advent of social media, body image concerns have increased among women who frequently engage in social media use. Emerging evidence suggests that midlife women experience negative body image outcomes associated with social media use, and women's body image concerns and social media use may contribute to negative body and age focused talk. Further, negative self-talk while socializing with friends and family may reflect internalized concerns about body image and aging. This study examined associations between social media use, internalization of appearance pressure from social media, t

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the need to develop innovative strategies for virtual engagement and interaction has emerged. There has been a growing emphasis on online recruitment strategies for most medical specialties. For the last several interview seasons, many national organizations have recommended that fellowship interviews be conducted virtually for all applicants. Social media represents a powerful tool for both the program and the applicants. However, there remains a paucity of data published on social media use for virtual recruitment in pulmonary and critical care medicine (PCCM). H
