Aneurysmal bone cysts (ABCs) are benign osteolytic lesions that occur rarely in the jaws. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical, radiographical and pathological features of ABCs of the jaws. A retrospective analysis of the content of a 39-year database, including nine cases of ABCs of the jaws diagnosed from the archives of the Oral Pathology Service. Nine patients (3 males and 6 females), ranging in age from 5 to 33 years were included. Seven (7/9) lesions were located in the mandible and two (2/9) in the maxilla. A painful swelling was the most common clinical finding (n = 4,

A review of the clinical, radiologic, and histologic features of 25 cases of long bone adamantinoma is presented. To answer some questions concerning the nature of these tumors, relevant tissue markers were analyzed in seven cases using immunohistochemical assays. This study confirmed the epithelial nature of long bone adamantinomas irrespective of their wide-ranging morphologic patterns that can mimic tumors of various origin. On the basis of distinct radiologic, histologic, and immunohistochemical patterns, a new type of adamantinoma termed "differentiated adamantinoma" could be distinguishe

Background: The management of bone defects in pediatric oncology represents a major challenge in orthopedics, as it requires preserving both joint function and skeletal growth. Traditional reconstructive approaches, such as autografts and allografts, are limited by availability, complications, and incomplete biological integration. In this context, xeno-hybrid bone substitutes have emerged as a promising alternative. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of SmartBone® ORTHO in the reconstruction of post-oncological bone defects in children. Methods: Twelve pediatri

Osteolipoma is an extremely rare histological variant of lipoma characterized by the presence of mature adipose tissue admixed with well-formed lamellar bone. Its occurrence in the oral cavity is exceptional, often posing a diagnostic challenge due to its nonspecific clinical and radiographic features. We report a rare case of osteolipoma in a 40-year-old male who presented with a slow-growing, painless swelling on the right side of the mandible of six months' duration. Clinical examination revealed a firm, mobile, non-tender mass causing facial asymmetry and intraoral vestibular obliteration.

BACKGROUND: Skull base defects, accidental or planned during tumor resections, present significant reconstructive challenges. Effective repair prevents cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks, meningitis, and pneumocephalus.
METHODS: This retrospective observational study analyzed 26 patients with anterior or lateral skull base defects treated between 2018 and 2024 at a tertiary care center in Western India. Both planned iatrogenic and accidental intraoperative defects were included. Patient demographics, surgical approach, defect characteristics, reconstruction techniques, and postoperative outcomes

INTRODUCTION: Tooth autotransplantation is a well-established dental surgical procedure. However, third molar autotransplantation to bony free flaps is rarely performed. We present a case of two impacted wisdom teeth that were transplanted to a DCIA free flap using 3D printing technologies.
CASE REPORT: A 10-year-old girl was diagnosed with ossifying fibroma. She underwent a segmental mandibular resection with nerve preservation and reconstruction using a DCIA free flap. Six years later, due to edentulism, wisdom tooth autotransplantation was performed with digital planning, thermoplastic vac

BACKGROUND: Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor (AOT) accounts for 3% of all odontogenic tumors. It has been classified by WHO as an odontogenic tumor of purely epithelial origin. The current study attempts to establish the origin of the tumor along with detailed histopathological and clinicoradiographic analysis of 43 cases of AOT.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Forty-three cases were reviewed from the departmental archives for demographic data, radiographic features and histological features. Further, histopathological slides were stained with Picrosirius Red (PSR) and observed under polarised light.

BACKGROUND: Relatively low incidence has led to an under-rating of fibula tumors. This study aimed to evaluate fibula tumors as a whole and to give detailed information based on histological types according to the anatomic location of the tumors in the fibula.
METHODS: Evaluation was made of all the primary bone tumors of the fibula recorded in our bone tumor registry and institute of pathology from 2007 to 2018. Of these, 62 cases were identified. Analysis included assessment of age, gender, tumor localization, the presenting symptoms, the duration of symptoms, and treatment methods.

INTRODUCTION: Mandibular anterior region is an uncommon site for occurrence of intrabony pathologies. Unilocular presentation of a lesion is again less common than multilocular appearance. Demographically, most lesions occur in middle to elderly age group. The study is designed to review the pathologies manifesting a combination of these rare demographic and radiological criteria.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective analysis of patients with anterior unilocular radiolucencies of mandible in young patients was done. Records of past 10 years were searched. There were a total of 17 patients.

Gnathodiaphyseal dysplasia (GDD; OMIM #166260) is an ultra-rare autosomal dominant disorder caused by heterozygous mutation in the anoctamin 5 (ANO5) gene and features fibro-osseous lesions of the jawbones, bone fragility with recurrent fractures, and bowing/sclerosis of tubular bones. The physiologic role of ANO5 is unknown. We report a 5-year-old boy with a seemingly atypical and especially severe presentation of GDD and unique ANO5 mutation. Severe osteopenia was associated with prenatal femoral fractures, recurrent postnatal fractures, and progressive bilateral enlargement of his maxilla a

BACKGROUND: Multinucleated giant cell-containing tumors and pseudotumors of bone represent a heterogeneous group of benign and malignant lesions. Differential diagnosis can be challenging, particularly in instances of limited sampling. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the contribution of the P63 in the positive and differential diagnosis of giant cell tumor of bone.
METHODS: This study includes 48 giant cell-containing tumors and pseudotumors of bone. P63 expression was evaluated by immunohistochemistry. Data analysis was performed using Epi-info software and SPSS software package (v

Ossifying fibromyxoid tumor is a rare soft tissue mesenchymal neoplasm of unclear lineage and intermediate malignant potential, primarily arising in subcutaneous tissues of the limbs, head and neck, or trunk. Ossifying fibromyxoid tumors can be classified as typical, atypical, or malignant. While, most ossifying fibromyxoid tumors exhibit benign behavior, a subset demonstrates malignant tendencies, with a potential for local recurrence and distant metastasis. We report a case of an atypical ossifying fibromyxoid tumor in the soft tissue of the right elbow, characterized by multiple local recur

Aneurysmal bone cyst, commonly reported in the second and third decades of life, is characterized by a rapid growth pattern with resultant bony expansion and facial asymmetry. Interestingly, these lesions can occur in association with other primary bone pathologies, where they are referred to as "hybrid lesions" or "ABC-Plus." Their rarity, especially in the head and neck region, may pose a diagnostic challenge to clinicians. Following is a discussion of one such enigmatic lesion that includes description of a unique case of ABC-Plus that affected the right mandible of a young male.

BACKGROUND: Ossifying fibromyxoid tumor (OFMT) is a soft tissue neoplasm of uncertain differentiation, characterized by peripheral ossification within a fibromyxoid stroma and typically occurring in the extremities and trunk. However, OFMT arising from the submandibular gland is extremely rare.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 40-year-old male presented with a progressively enlarging painless mass in the left submandibular region over two years. Radiological examination revealed a well-demarcated, round lesion measuring 1.3 cm in maximal diameter. Histopathology demonstrated nodular/lobular growth of uni
