BACKGROUND: Current methods for diagnosing primary aldosteronism (PA) are limited by their invasiveness and diagnostic accuracy. This study aimed to develop nuclear medicine imaging tracers targeting CYP11B2, which is overexpressed in patients with PA.

BACKGROUND: Heart-type fatty acid binding proteins (FABP3) constitute a family of lipid chaperone proteins. They are found in the cytosol and enhance cellular fatty acid solubilisation, transport, and metabolism. FABP3 is highly expressed in the myocardium and is released from myocytes during myocardial damage. Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) type lymphoma has generally been thought not to show increased fluorine 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) accumulation on positron emission tomography (PET), based on previous research. Only a limited numbers of articles have been published on this topic, however, involving a small number of cases. Although positive FDG PET results might be uncommon in this entity, a case of increased FDG accumulation in a case of MALT type lymphoma of the lung is presented.
