The Fiscal Consequences for the Canadian Government of Efgartigimod in the Treatment of Generalized Myasthenia Gravis.

Background: Generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) severely impacts activities of daily living. Productivity losses and the need for care can impact household finances and consequently government public accounts. This study adopts a governmental perspective framework to assess the fiscal consequences of treating gMG that is inadequately controlled by standard therapy, beyond healthcare costs. Savings in tax revenue loss and benefit payments are considered. Objectives: To value the fiscal consequences of treating adults with acetylcholine receptor-antibody positive (AChR-Ab+) gMG with efgartigimod

A cost-minimisation population-based analysis of telehealth-integrated antenatal care.

BACKGROUND: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Victoria's largest maternity service provider implemented a telehealth-integrated antenatal care (ANC) schedule for high- and low-risk pregnancies. The program has been maintained since March 2020. Given ever-increasing healthcare costs, economic evaluation is crucial to ensure value and guide ongoing use. METHODS: The aim of the study was to perform a cost-minimisation analysis of telehealth integrated ANC compared to conventional in-person ANC, from the hospital and patient perspectives. We hypothesised that the costs associated with telehea

Alcohol- and drug-related mortality in Brazil: an ecological and population-based study on changes observed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted healthcare services and intensified socio-economic vulnerabilities, potentially escalating harmful substance use. In Brazil, pre-pandemic mortality from alcohol and drug use was stable. However, the pandemic introduced new risks that may have triggered a significant increase in related deaths. This study, therefore, aims to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on alcohol- and drug-related deaths in Brazil from 2020 to 2022. METHODS: This population-based ecological study analyzed alcohol- and drug-related mortality across Brazil from 2015

Coexistence and prevalence of obstetric interventions: an analysis based on the grade of membership.

BACKGROUND: Obstetric interventions performed during delivery do not reflect improvements in obstetric care. Several practices routinely performed during childbirth, without any scientific evidence or basis - such as Kristeller maneuver, routine episiotomy, and movement or feeding restriction - reflect a disrespectful assistance reality that, unfortunately, remains in place in Brazil. The aims of the current study are to assess the coexistence and prevalence of obstetric interventions in maternity hospitals in Belo Horizonte City, based on the Grade of Membership (GoM) method, as well as to in

The State of Primary Care in the United States.

UNLABELLED: Policy Points Primary care, when done well, is the country's most cost-effective solution to runaway costs and widening health outcome gaps. Primary care is increasingly starved for resources, with associated reductions in relational continuity and comprehensiveness that collectively increase the risk of losing patient trust. The 2021 National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine report, Implementing High-Quality Primary Care: Rebuilding the Foundation of Health Care, supported a cascade of federal initiatives to strengthen, coordinate, and create accountability for pri

The practice of drug emergency supply in China during the COVID-19 pandemic: A policy mix perspective.

BACKGROUND: Public health emergencies such as COVID-19 severely disrupt drug supply chains, creating sudden surges in demand, labor shortages, and regulatory challenges. Existing studies often focus on single supply chain stages, with limited systematic analysis of policy responses across the entire cycle. OBJECTIVES: This study aims to systematically analyze China's emergency drug supply policies by examining issuing agencies, developmental stages, policy tools, and supply chain links, to identify patterns, complementarities, and existing gaps. METHODS: A total of 559 policy texts (110 nati

Network-based intrusion detection using deep learning technique.

A high growth rate in network traffic and the complexity of cyber threats have made it necessary to create more effective and flexible intrusion detection systems. Most traditional Network-based Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS) can become weak at detecting new patterns of attacks due to the use of obsolete data or traditional machine learning models. To overcome the mentioned constraints, the current research presents a new deep learning solution that combines Sequential Deep Neural Networks (DNN) and Rectified Linear Unit (ReLU) activation unit with an Extra Tree Classifier feature selectio

"A center for trans women where they help you": Resource needs of the immigrant Latinx transgender community.

BACKGROUND: Immigrant Latinx transgender people often migrate to the United States because of a desire for increased safety and more opportunities. However, after migrating to the United States, immigrant Latinx transgender people often struggle to access basic needs, including health care, jobs, and stable finances. These struggles are exacerbated for undocumented immigrant Latinx transgender people. There is a gap in the literature regarding needed resources for immigrant Latinx transgender community members living in the United States. AIMS: Utilizing a critical intersectionality framework

What Is the Cost: Financial Toxicity and Screening Fatigue in Li-Fraumeni Syndrome.

Patients with Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS) are recommended to follow a comprehensive surveillance protocol, but the demanding nature may limit adherence. We sought to identify barriers to adherence and to determine whether screening fatigue and financial hardship are contributors. A 39-item online survey was developed and distributed to patients presenting to a LFS clinic between 2017 and 2022. Of the 39 patients eligible, 20 responded to the survey (51%). Of the respondents, 75% reported they do not skip surveillance tests; however, this was not consistent when asked about specific tests, with
