300 children considered to have had adverse reactions to penicillin were examined. Informed consent was obtained from the parents. Skin tests were conducted by the scratch/prick and intradermal techniques, using benzylpenicilloyl polylysine conjugate and a mixture of minor determinants of penicillin. Specific anti-penicillin IgE antibodies were estimated by the radioallergosorbent test. There was a good correlation between the two methods. Two hundred patients assessed for nutritional deficiencies were analyzed for reaction to skin testing with common antigens and the incidence of sepsis and death. Only 39% of all skin tests were positive, though 50% of the patients had at least one positive test. Associated diagnoses revealed a high incidence of malnutrition, cancer, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. INTRODUCTION: The World Health Organization recommends that, as part of the new polio endgame, a dose of inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) be introduced by the end of 2015 in all countries using only oral poliovirus vaccine (OPV). OBJECTIVE: To describe the patterns of penicillin hypersensitivity during a 6-year study in Kuwait in terms of demographics, type of the culprit drug, in vivo and in vitro allergy testing.
METHODS: One hundred and twenty-four patients referred to the drug allergy clinic for penicillin allergy were fully evaluated by skin prick and intradermal testing. Drug provocation test was done on patients with negative results.

Oral corticosteroids are the main therapeutic choice for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Adverse reactions to systemic corticosteroids rarely occur and the etiology is unclear in most cases. Fractions and subfractions of gluten were used for intradermal testing in 14 patients with GSE and in 22 control subjects. Twelve out of 14 GSE patients gave positive skin reactions to one or more of the subfractions of gluten. To obtain comparable and reproducible results by filaria skin test with B. malayi larval antigen, standard procedure has been evolved. Antigen protein of 2 micrograms per test, injected intracutaneously, was found optimum for positive skin reaction. The autoinoculation test has been used as a diagnostic procedure in patients with chancroid-suspected genital ulcerations. In four of 13 patients with a positive autoinoculation test, herpes simplex virus type 2 was isolated from the primary lesions.
