OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of diode laser trans-scleral thermotherapy (TSTT) in cyclodestruction for refractory glaucoma (RG).
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The proposed cyclodestructive procedure was performed on 87 patients with severe and terminal RG (stages III and IV) at power levels of 0.4-0.5 W with exposure times of 15-25 seconds.

OBJECTIVE: Ventricular neuroendoscopy represents an important advance in the treatment of hydrocephalus. High-power (surgical) Nd:YAG laser and low-level laser therapy (using 685-nm-wavelength diode laser) have been used in conjunction with neuroendoscopy with favorable results. Classic techniques such as direct cyclopexy are performed ab externo and entail a higher risk of endophthalmitis or ciliary body hemorrhage. PURPOSE: To retrospectively evaluate the results of diode laser cyclophotocoagulation (CPC) in patients with nanophthalmos.
METHODS: The data on all bilaterally nanophthalmic patients who underwent diode laser CPC in our department between 2004 and 2012 were retrieved and evaluated.
RESULTS: Four patients fulfilled study entry criteria. All 4 were females aged 58, 62, 68, and 74 years. The mean preoperative intraocular pressure of 46±5.7 mm Hg dropped to 16.2±1.5 mm Hg at the final follow-up visit (43.5±16 mo). Visual acuity did not change in 2 patients and slightly worsened in the other 2.

Results of use of UroBeam laser diode in 72 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) were analyzed. Average prostate volume was 67.29 +/- 26.72 cm3, the duration of vaporization--69.2 +/- 23.7 min. Blood loss was minimal.
