OBJECTIVE: To provide an overview of the work of a consultation-liaison (C-L) psychiatry service to an oncology unit in a university affiliated teaching hospital, with the aid of a comprehensive clinical database.
METHOD: The MICROCARES prospective clinical database system was used to record data on all oncology inpatients referred to C-L psychiatry, and the hospital clinical database was used to compare referred inpatients with all oncology inpatients.

BACKGROUND: Patients presenting with gastrointestinal symptoms can be challenging in terms of determining etiology and management strategies. Identifying likely organic pathology is important since it can be treated and may result in further, long-term harm to the patient if not treated. Currently, organic pathology is often identified via invasive procedures such as endoscopy or referral to a medical imaging service. We report on an approach that offers a first step at identifying patients with an organic gastrointestinal disease based on the SAGIS, a validated symptom questionnaire.

We conducted a retrospective study of corneal ulcers that had been managed on the Cornea Service at Wills Eye Hospital in 1988 and 1989. Forty-four percent (51 of 116) of the ulcers were associated with contact lens use. BACKGROUND: During the COVID-19 pandemic, telemedicine had the opportunity to demonstrate its potential. In Italy, after an initial period of mistrust, it became clear that remote medicine can provide significant benefits for both healthcare professionals and patients. In the Local Health Unit of Modena (Emilia Romagna region, Northern Italy), great importance was placed on developing, promoting, and managing all telemedicine activities.
