The authors examined donor-site complications and morbidity in 37 patients after reconstruction with free or pedicled anterolateral thigh flaps. Intraoperative assessment included damage to the vastus lateralis muscle and whether the main pedicle of the rectus femoris muscle had been killed. This study compares the demographic and clinical characteristics of homebound (HB) elders referred for psychiatric services (N = 251) with those of inpatients (IP) admitted to a geriatric psychiatry unit (N = 594). Demographically, HB patients were older (78.8 vs 74.7 years), were more likely to be women (83% vs 68%), were widowed (54% vs. 44%), and had fewer years of education (10.3 vs. 11.1), but were similar in race, income, and proportion living alone. To examine causes of newborn hospital readmission and morbidity related to early nursery discharge, we reviewed the charts of 664 newborns readmitted from home under the age of 15 days, between 1993 and 1995. Early discharge (ED) was defined as nursery length of stay of < or = 2 days. OBJECTIVE: To compare neonatal morbidity and mortality in a large cohort of triplet pregnancies with singleton and twin neonates managed at a single tertiary center over a short time.
METHODS: Records from all triplet pregnancies managed and delivered from 1992 to 1996 were reviewed for neonatal outcome data. A study on industrial ocular morbidity was carried out in 6 industrial establishments at Saharanpur. The mean age of the respondents was 35.3 years. 58.2% were regular floor staff. 10.6% professed suffering from an industrial ocular injury. 60% of these injuries were sustained by ocular metallic trauma. 51.9% complained of ocular symptoms at the time of the survey. The acute morbidity of high dose radiation therapy for carcinoma of the prostate in a group of 169 patients treated between February 1993 and April 1994 was examined.
