Spontaneous rupture of renal pelvis during postobstructive diuresis.

A case of spontaneous rupture of the renal pelvis during postobstructive diuresis following spontaneous relief of anuria in a patient with postpyelolithotomy retroperitoneal fibrosis, is described. The unusual etiopathological setting which predisposed to the occurrence of such a rare phenomenon and its treatment implications are discussed.

[Masked urothel carcinoma of kidney pelvis and ureter].

Behind the typical signs of a staghorn calculus of a kidney and a ureterocele with calculi in x-ray a transitional cell carcinoma of the kidney and the whole ureter was found. The nonfunction of the organ was thought to be due to pyonephrosis. Four other cases reported in the literature are discussed.

Ballistic injuries of the pelvis and acetabulum: a narrative review.

Ballistic trauma to the pelvis and acetabulum represents a small but resource-intensive subset of orthopaedic injuries. Civilian firearm violence has risen over the past two decades, with pelvic gunshot wounds (GSWs) comprising approximately 10-20% of orthopaedic ballistic injuries. Unlike military high-velocity ballistic trauma, civilian injuries are predominantly low-velocity handguns, with morbidity largely driven by associated bowel, genitourinary, vascular, and neurologic injuries. This narrative review synthesizes contemporary evidence on civilian low-velocity pelvic and acetabular GSWs,…

Amniotic constriction band of the pelvis in a newborn male.

We present the case of a newborn male with congenital amniotic band syndrome and a constriction band involving the right inguinal crease, scrotum and perineum. He was diagnosed prenatally and referred to our institution after developing a right femoral nerve palsy. Surgical management included excision of the constriction band and Z-plasty closure. We discuss the considerations for safe and cosmetic surgical outcomes in this rare presentation of amniotic band syndrome. A multidisciplinary approach to management is essential during workup and surgical intervention.

Twisting in the abdomen and pelvis: a review of organ torsions.

Torsion of abdominal and pelvic organs, such as the spleen, gallbladder, omentum, epiploic appendages, fallopian tube, and epididymis/testicular appendix are relatively rare, and yet clinically significant, often imitating more common causes of acute pain. Given the nonspecific presentation and limited value of laboratory tests, imaging drives early recognition and timely, organ-preserving management. This review consolidates pathophysiology, modality-specific appearances, and practical diagnostic strategies for uncommon non-intestinal torsions. The unifying mechanism is rotation around a mese

Cystic genitourinary lesions in the pelvis: pearls and pitfalls.

Cystic lesions of the genitourinary (GU) tract in the pelvis represent a diverse group of entities that can be challenging to characterize due to overlapping anatomy and variable imaging appearances. While most lesions are benign, accurate identification is critical to guide appropriate clinical management and avoid misdiagnosis. This review presents a comprehensive, image-rich overview of cystic pelvic lesions, focusing on the anterior and middle compartments in both male and female patients. Imaging modalities such as ultrasound, CT, and MRI each provide distinct advantages depending on the …
