A 20-year perspective on leading authors to the Italian Journal of Dermatology and Venereology.

BACKGROUND: Established in 1866, the Italian Journal of Dermatology and Venereology (IJDV) is a peer-reviewed publication with a longstanding tradition of disseminating dermatological and venereological research. Despite its historical importance, a comprehensive scientometric analysis of its recent publications is lacking. METHODS: This study is designed as a systematic literature review employing a descriptive and quantitative scientometric approach to analyze all contributions published in the IJDV from 2005 to 2024. Metadata were extracted from the journal's official online archives and i

Development of the alcohol-free and low-alcohol drinks market in Great Britain from 2011 to 2022: Narrative timelines based on a documentary review of off-trade retail magazines and market intelligence reports.

ISSUE: There is a growing alcohol-free and low-alcohol (no/lo) drinks market in Great Britain. Insight about when this emerged and how it has developed is needed to inform and interpret the growing body of research into the use of no/lo drinks. We therefore document the development of the no/lo market in Great Britain between 2011 and 2022 and examine which stakeholders have been involved in development and what actions they have taken. APPROACH: Narrative timelines created through a documentary review of trade magazines (2011-2022) and market intelligence reports (2015-2022), focusing on pro

The European Journal of Paediatric Dentistry achieves Q1 status: a strategic advancement in specialised dental publishing.

The European Journal of Paediatric Dentistry (EJPD) has attained a significant milestone by entering the first quartile (Q1) in the 2024 Journal Citation Reports (JCR), curated by Clarivate Analytics, in both the "Dentistry, Oral Surgery & Medicine" and "Paediatrics" categories". This dual recognition is a rare and significant achievement for a journal exclusively devoted to paediatric dentistry, underscoring its growing influence within both the dental and broader medical research communities. Since its initial inclusion in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) in 2010, the European Journal of P

Detectable AI-Generated Text in the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery : A Comparison of 2014 and 2024 Publications.

BACKGROUND: The rapid emergence of large language models (LLMs) has transformed scientific writing, prompting concerns regarding the extent to which generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools may be influencing published research manuscripts. AI-detection software has been proposed as a method to identify AI-generated text; however, the validity of these tools in scientific contexts remains uncertain. This study evaluates detectable AI content in articles published in the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery (JCFS) before and after the widespread adoption of LLMs. METHODS: A retrospective cross

Editorial diversity correlates with journal impact factor and author diversity in cardiothoracic surgery.

INTRODUCTION: While there are no widely accepted diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) metrics for journals, geographic and sex diversity across a journal's editorial board may provide a surrogate measure of its commitment to DEI. We explored the association between journal quality and DEI metrics for cardiothoracic surgery (CTS) journals and investigated whether editorial diversity correlates with diversity across published articles. METHODS: We collected the following data for 30 CTS journals: country of publication (categorized by income level), journal quality metrics (citation-based met

The effect of post-oral bitter compound interventions on the postprandial glycemia response: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: The post-oral sensing of bitter compounds by a family of bitter taste receptors (TAS2Rs) is suggested to regulate postprandial glycemia in humans. However, reports are inconsistent. This systematic review used meta-analysis to synthesise the impact of bitter compound interventions on the postprandial glycaemic response in humans. METHODS: Electronic databases (Medline, PubMed, and Web of Science) were systematically searched from inception to April 2024 to identify randomised controlled trials reporting the effect of interventions utilising post-oral bitter compounds vs. pl

Global Scientific Outputs of Brain Death Publications and Evaluation According to the Religions of Countries.

In 1950s, the concept of brain death, which began to be discussed primarily in terms of medicine and then in terms of religion, law, and ethics, became a central topic in all world countries as it was an early diagnosis of death. Despite the fact that brain death (BD) diagnosis is of importance for benefitting from organ and tissue transplantation of patients in the world, the literature still involves no bibliometric studies that made a holistic evaluation of the publications about this issue. The present study aims to investigate the top-cited articles about BD published between 1980 and 201

The use of H-index to assess research priorities in poultry diseases.

Identifying which diseases represent a priority is crucial to optimize resources for diagnostics, control, and prevention. Here, the impact of 111 poultry pathogens belonging to Viruses (n = 31), Bacteria (n = 33), and Other (n = 47) was assessed using the H-index. The overall mean H-indexes suggested that poultry Viruses have statistically greater impact than Bacteria, which in turn are statistically more relevant than Others. Among the 20 highest H-indexes, 45% were zoonotic, and almost a third was Office International des Epizooties-listed. Avian influenza virus (H-index 127), Salmonella en
