The purpose of this study was to evaluate a new system of drug delivery to periodontal pocket by means of intracanal dressing and additional iontophoresis in vitro. Forty extracted human teeth with a single root were used. After the root canal was prepared endodontically, the periphery root apex was painted with the Silux system (3 M Co.) to close the apical foramen. Each tooth was planted into an agar block. Three drugs (zinc iodide-iodine, penicillin G. potassium, minocycline HCl) were used (Table 1), and 50 microliters of each drug was injected into an individual root canal. Then a cathodic

BACKGROUND: Retreatment cases involving bioceramic (BC) sealers consistently present a major challenge, as residual sealer remnants hinder the efficient cleaning and shaping of the root canals. Removing these sealers is difficult with standard syringe irrigation. To overcome this limitation, irrigant activation techniques have been introduced to help clean otherwise inaccessible areas of the root canal system, particularly the apical third. Therefore, this study evaluated the percentage of canal cleanliness along the coronal, middle, and apical thirds of root canal walls using scanning electro

BACKGROUND: Maxillary sinusitis of endodontic origin (MSEO) is a recognized complication of odontogenic infection, arising from the close anatomical relationship between the posterior maxillary dentition and the maxillary sinus floor. Failure to identify the odontogenic etiology of sinus pathology risks misdiagnosis, delayed treatment, and unnecessary surgical intervention. This case report presents the diagnostic approach and clinical management of a maxillary second molar associated with sinus mucosal thickening, emphasizing the role of advanced imaging and conservative endodontic therapy in

Background/objectives Rotary instrumentation has gained significant importance in the endodontic preparation of primary teeth. Shorter appointment durations improve pediatric patient compliance while maintaining the original root canal anatomy is essential to preserve the integrity of the developing permanent tooth germ. Rotary files facilitate this process by reducing treatment time. This study aimed to compare the obturation quality achieved using hand files versus a rotary file system in the root canal treatment of primary molars. Materials and methods A total of 316 patients aged 4-10 year

Three-dimensional (3D)-printed guides have been used in endodontics to prepare a conservative access, locate calcified or missing canals, and perform precisive osteotomy in apicoectomy. Here, we present the treatment of a fusion tooth by combining 3D printing technology and endodontic intervention in a 10-year-old patient. The bifid crown of a maxillary right lateral incisor #7 had caused esthetic concerns and malocclusion. Clinical and radiographic examinations showed that #7 is fused with a supernumerary tooth with 2 independent root canals. The fusion involved the entire crown and the coron

INTRODUCTION: Recognition of anatomic variations is a challenge for clinicians regardless of which tooth is treated. Maxillary premolars usually have 2 root canals, but the presence of 3 distinct root canals has been reported in 1%-6% of cases.
METHODS AND RESULTS: This report describes the case of a maxillary right second premolar with 4 separate canals: 1 mesial, 1 palatal, and 2 distal canals. This was confirmed by using cone-beam computed tomography and was successfully treated with rotary files and obturated by using a warm vertical compaction technique.
CONCLUSIONS: The clinical signif

INTRODUCTION: The long-term success of root canal treatment depends on effective elimination of microorganisms from the root canal system using chemical irrigants before obturation. Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is the most commonly used irrigant in endodontic therapy; however, it has certain limitations, such as high surface tension that restricts penetration into lateral canals and isthmuses. Therefore, newer irrigants with improved antimicrobial properties are being explored. Recently, nanoparticles have been introduced as potential antimicrobial agents for root canal disinfection.

Root canal treatment failure commonly results from persistent intracanal infection, missed canal anatomy, inadequate obturation, or procedural complications, often presenting as persistent symptoms or periapical pathology. Nonsurgical endodontic retreatment remains the most conservative and predictable approach for managing such failures by addressing etiological factors while preserving the natural dentition. This case series reports the nonsurgical retreatment of three failed endodontic cases presenting with significant clinical challenges, including a separated instrument, calcified canals,
