Isolated fallopian tube torsion is an extremely rare occurrence in a young female. The lady concerned presented with acute abdominal pain and the ovaries were normal on the scan with dilated fallopian tubes. On laparoscopy, it was revealed that she was suffering from fallopian tube torsion and laparoscopic salpingectomy was performed. The patient recovered well postoperatively.

In women at increased risk of developing ovarian cancer, risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy is the only intervention that has been shown to decrease mortality from ovarian cancer and is the standard of care for risk reduction. Prophylactic salpingectomy with delayed oophorectomy should be considered in high-risk premenopausal women in the setting of a clinical trial.

A 22-year-old primigravida in the 26/27 weeks of pregnancy with tubal pregnancy is presented. Clinical and ultrasound examinations indicated ectopic pregnancy; emergency laparotomy was performed. Intraoperatively, the tubal pregnancy with a ruptured hole was revealed. Typical salpingectomy was carried out. Histology confirmed tubal pregnancy. The postoperative course was normal.

We report a case of non-ruptured tubal pregnancy at 38 weeks of pregnancy with the survival of mother and baby. Following salpingotomy a 1860 gr and 43 cm normal healthy male infant was delivered. The fallopian tube with placental tissue was removed by salpingectomy. Fetal development post partum and recovery of the mother were normal.

Anchored fallopian tube through the drain tube is rare. We present a case of a 27-year-old female patient who underwent right salpingectomy with the fenestrated drain tube in the pelvic cavity. Postoperatively, the drain could not be removed. Laparotomy revealed the left fallopian tube entering through the fenestration of the drain tube.

We report a case of pregnancy in a rudimentary horn that ruptured at 18 weeks. An emergency laparotomy was taken for acute abdomen and ruptured right rudimentary horn pregnancy was diagnosed. Excision of the rudimentary horn and ipsilateral salpingectomy were carried out. The patient's postoperative course was uneventful, and she left the hospital 6 days later.

Ectopic twin pregnancy is rare. Most frequently it occurs as a heterotopic pregnancy located simultaneously in the the fallopian tube and in the uterus. An unusual case of an intact unilateral ectopic twin pregnancy in the 7th week of gestation was diagnosed at this early stage by TVS (transvaginal ultrasound). The patient was successfully treated by laparoscopic salpingectomy. A review of the current literature is discussed.

In a retrospective study, we compared 118 patients with hydrosalpinx and 157 patients with bilateral salpingectomy entering an established in vitro fertilisation programme between 1988 and 1992. Patients with unilateral or bilateral hydrosalpinx had a lower clinical pregnancy rate, a higher miscarriage rate, and a lower ongoing pregnancy rate than patients with absent Fallopian tubes.

Isolated torsion of the fallopian tube is an unusual finding in a female patient presenting with acute lower abdominal pain. Left tubal torsion is considered to be a particularly rare condition. The patient presented with lower abdominal pain due to torsion of the left hydrosalpinx with no ovarian involvement. The patient underwent laparotomy and a left salpingectomy. The follow-up was uneventful.

Urinary retention is a rare condition in women. We report a case of intermittent retention associated with severe anterior displacement of the uterus and cervix caused by a large hydrosalpinx. We also highlight the possibility of a falsely elevated post-void residual as measured by a bladder scan due to hydrosalpinx. Resolution of the patient's symptoms was documented following salpingectomy.

We describe the first successful outcome of a case of combined tubal and intrauterine quadruplet pregnancy in the literature. The patient's risk factors for combined pregnancy included a history of PID as well as the use of hMG therapy. A laparoscopic salpingectomy was performed, followed by a multifetal pregnancy reduction procedure. Two healthy infants were delivered at 37 weeks of gestation.

The spontaneous rupture of the primigravid uterus before the onset of labour is an obstetric rarity. Invariably there is a history of antecedent scarring. A case of uterine rupture, an unusual finding at Caesarean section, is reported. The only antecedent history was partial salpingectomy and oophorectomy. The probable mechanism of rupture is discussed. Admission at 32 weeks and Caesarean section at 36 weeks is recommended in the next pregnancy.

Isolated torsion of fallopian tube, meanwhile uncommon, should be considered in diagnosis of pelvic and lower abdominal pain. US investigation is an useful diagnostic tool. A prompt diagnosis could avoid salpingectomy and preserve fertility. Laparoscopy, as the first approach, should be preferred.
