OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical efficacy of uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) with hyoid suspension for patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).
METHOD: Thirty-eight OSAHS patients underwent UPPP with hyoid suspension. Review the sleep monitoring after 6 months and 1 year and compare the AHI, LSaO 2 and ESS score.
RESULT: The average AHI decreased, and blood oxygen saturation increased significantly afer operation.
CONCLUSION: UPPP with hyoid suspension is an available and relatively safe surgical approach in OSAHS patients.

PURPOSE: Dorzolamide nanoparticle γ-cyclodextrin eye drops may prolong the effect of dorzolamide on intraocular pressure. We test whether the nanoparticle drops have an irritating or toxic effect on the eye in an in vivo rabbit model.
METHODS: Eighteen pigmented rabbits were divided into 4 groups receiving dorzolamide nanoparticle γ-cyclodextrin eye drops×1/day or×2/day, Trusopt® (dorzolamide HCl)×3/day, and untreated controls that received no drops. The rabbits received treatment for 1 month. After sacrifice, 33 eyes and 25 Harderian glands were evaluated for histopathology in a masked way.

METHODS: Fifty women with advanced uterine prolapse underwent transvaginal HUS after vaginal hysterectomy with reconstruction of pubocervical and rectovaginal fascia to correct their uterine prolapse between June 2003 and September 2007. OBJECTIVE: To treat OSAHS with hyoid suspension and evaluate treating effect.
METHOD: Twenty-eight patients of median, severe OSAHS were treat with functional endoscopic sinus surgery, UPPP+ hyoid suspension. The length of follow up was 6 months. PSG was used for diagnosis and pre up, post up evaluation.
RESULT: AHI of 28 patients reduced from (52.8 +/- 21.4)h to (15.2 +/- 13.3)h (P < 0.05). Effective rate is 85.7%.
CONCLUSION: Hyoid suspension is an effective method of safety, simplicity, few complications.

OBJECTIVES: To determine whether magnesium-aluminum-hydroxide-simethicone suspension (MgAl) is an effective treatment for dermal capsaicin exposures.
METHODS: The authors performed a double-blind, randomized, controlled, pilot study comparing the effect of MgAl with that of saline in the treatment of dermal capsaicin exposures. Ten volunteers were sprayed with a commercial defensive spray containing 10% capsaicin on the flexor surface of both forearms. A dressing embedded with MgAl (Maalox) suspension was randomly applied to one arm and a saline-embedded dressing was applied to the other arm.
