We report the case of a 47-year-old woman with thymoma who developed myasthenia gravis, thrombocytopenia, and granulocytopenia, simultaneously, the concurrent association of these four disorders being extremely rare. A 62-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of diarrhea and melena. Thymectomy for thymoma with myasthenia gravis was carried out on this patient four years ago. Barium enema revealed four tumor shadows in the ascending and transverse colon. Multiple colon cancer was diagnosed and extended right hemicolectomy was carried out. The postoperative course was uneventful and she has been free from any symptom. In this paper, we discussed the relationship between thymoma and the incidence of nonthymic malignancy.

Thyrotoxicosis occurring in conjunction with myasthenia gravis is rare. The usual treatment consists of medical control of the thyrotoxicosis, then thymectomy and later subtotal thyroidectomy. The case reported here concerns a 19-year-old girl who had surgical treatment for both lesions on the same occasion. With proper medical preparation, modern anaesthesia and respiratory care, the surgical treatment of both lesions can be accomplished in one stage.
