Thyrotropin (TSH) secreting pituitary adenomas are a very rare cause of hyperthyroidism. They typically present with signs and symptoms of hyperthyroidism and rarely can be asymptomatic. OBJECTIVE: Suprasellar craniopharyngiomas have been classically removed using a variety of transcranial approaches. Historically, the transsphenoidal route was reserved for intrasellar-infradiaphragmatic, and preferably cystic, lesions. Keratosis obturans is characterized by the accumulation of desquamated keratinous material in the bony portion of the external auditory canal. Classically, it is reported to present with severe otalgia, conductive hearing loss and global widening of the external auditory canal. Extensive erosion of the bony meatus, with exposure of the facial nerve, has been previously reported, but no case of facial nerve palsy has as yet been published. We report the first published case, to our knowledge, of a unilateral facial nerve palsy secondary to neglected keratosis obturans.

The current study was conducted in Port au Prince, Haiti, to determine if information collected at HIV notification during voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) can predict patients' future adherence with risk reduction counseling and medical referral. Uveal melanomas are rare in the black population. We report the case of an 81-year-old black man who presented a ciliary body melanoma of the left eye. Ophthalmological examination revealed a mass arising from the ciliary body and choroid. Diagnosis of ciliary body melanoma, made from clinical examination and ocular ultrasound, may be difficult in some cases due to its similarity to other eye tumors. Uveal melanomas mainly affect Caucasians but they are not unknown in blacks.

Sunscreen is used as a primary strategy to prevent sunburn and later skin cancer. However, sunscreen use has paradoxically been associated with the increasing incidence of skin cancer. We report a male patient with carcinoma arising on the basis of neglected sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus disease. Following initial operation, performed without suspicion of malignancy, histology demonstrated cellular atypia and an increased mitotic rate. A second, wider tissue excision was recommended but the patient declined further surgery. Two years later, he presented with fungating carcinoma involving the rectum but again declined surgery.
