OBJECTIVES: To investigate the histopathological and immunohistochemical features of intraductal "nodular" tumor located in the main pancreatic duct.
METHODS: Four cases were studied, and the results were compared with those in 10 cases of common ductal adenocarcinomas of the pancreas.

A 39-year-old man was referred for epigastric fullness and a mass in the umbilical region. We have made a clinicopathological study of 90 cases of malignant meningiomas and 18 cases of invasive meningiomas. The results show that the diagnostic features of malignant meningioma include increased cellularity, nuclear pleomorphism, tumorous giant cells, numerous mitotic figures, focal necrosis, cystic change and hemorrhage. The diagnosis of malignant meningioma can be more positively made when invasive growth, recurrence and metastasis are present. In making the diagnosis of invasive meningioma, both changes of benign meningioma and invasive growth should be present.

A 62-year-old man with aleukemic Bence Jones type multiple myeloma who developed neurologic abnormalities is reported. The esthesioneuroblastoma is an uncommon but curable disease in a high proportion of cases. The treatment is controversial. Radiotherapy, alone or combined with surgery, has demonstrated to be an effective treatment in early stages. Chemotherapy, associated to radiotherapy, can improve the outcome in advanced stages and reduce the morbidity related to surgery. Three cases treated with radiotherapy, and one case treated with chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy are reported. Diagnosis and treatment management are discussed.

Computed tomography (CT) scans in 30 patients with neoplastic involvement of the heart and pericardium were retrospectively reviewed. From 1982 to 1985, 26 patients with malignant trophoblastic tumor were treated. Of them, 8 patients developed brain metastasis. Seven out of these 8 patients were treated with 60Co whole brain radiotherapy. The total dose on the longitudinal mid-plane of brain was 3300 cGy/2-3 weeks. Four patients were cured, 3 of them have survived without recurrence or sequelae for 6.5, 6 and 4.5 years, respectively; the other one died of liver metastasis 1 year after radiotherapy. Radiotherapy is an effective method in the combined treatment for brain metastasis of malignant trophoblastic tumors.
