The Effects of Social Identity and Emotional Connection on Subjective Well-Being in Times of the COVID-19 Pandemic for a Spanish Sample.

This study analyzes whether the degree of social identity and the degree of emotional connection influence the subjective well-being of individuals that participated in collective acts of support for health personnel fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic. Our sample was composed of 810 participants who resided in Spain (339 women and 471 men) with an average age of 34.22 (SD = 12.56). All of them frequently participated in the acts of support that took place each day of the lockdown decreed by the National Government on 14 March 2020. The results show that the greater identification with the

Unmet health-related social needs are associated with pain outcomes among midlife and older adults.

INTRODUCTION: Chronic pain affects over one-third of U.S. older adults, and particularly socioeconomically constrained populations. Few studies examine how unmet social needs related to the social determinants of health, including food, housing, utilities, transportation, and social support, are linked to pain. This study assessed whether cumulative and individual unmet social needs are associated with pain outcomes in a predominantly Black/African American sample of adults aged 50 years and older with chronic pain recruited from an underserved urban setting. METHODS: We pooled pre-interventi…

Dimorphic substrates, monomorphic outcomes: Social behavior neural circuit tuning in social monogamy.

Social behaviors are dramatically influenced by variations in mating systems that shape sex differences in the neural substrates underlying such displays. In polygamous species, distinct evolutionary pressures on males and females produce pronounced behavioral and anatomical sexual dimorphism, supported by strongly sexually differentiated social behavior and social decision-making networks at levels of brain structure, connectivity, physiology, and gene expression. By contrast, socially monogamous species display more similar or monomorphic social behaviors-such as shared parenting, convergent

However, the specific nuances of youth-dog relationship quality have not been explored in the context of social anxiety. METHODS: We analyzed survey data collected in the United States fr…
