The mechanisms underlying abnormal T-cell function in B-chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) are unknown. We have studied B-CLL T-cell activation pathways in the rigorous absence of leukemic cells and with controlled numbers of accessory cells present. Malignant mesothelioma (MM) is a highly aggressive form of cancer with limited treatment options. Although the role of NK cells has been studied in many solid tumors, the pattern of NK-cell subsets and their recognition of mesothelioma cells remain to be explored. BACKGROUND: Inflammation is the most important deriving force for the development of colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC) through the Inflammation-Pretumor dysplasia-CAC sequence. T helper (Th) subsets Th9 and Th17 cells can potentially stimulate inflammation in the ulcerative colitis (UC). PROBLEM: Recurrent reproductive failure (RRF) has been associated with expansion of circulating NK cells, key cells for maternal tolerance, decidual vasculogenesis and embryo growth. This study reports our experience in intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) therapy of a large cohort of women with RRF with expanded circulating NK and/or NKT-like cells (blood NKT cells are a heterogeneous subset of T cells that share properties of both T cells and NK cells).
