BACKGROUND: Anaemia is a condition where the number of red blood cells (and consequently their oxygen-carrying capacity) is insufficient to meet the body's physiologic needs. Fortification of wheat flour is deemed a useful strategy to reduce anaemia in populations.
OBJECTIVES: To determine the benefits and harms of wheat flour fortification with iron alone or with other vitamins and minerals on anaemia, iron status and health-related outcomes in populations over two years of age.

BACKGROUND: Dietary intake may be associated with neonatal outcomes, yet little is known about the influence of prepregnancy dietary pattern (DP).
OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the association between prepregnancy DPs and perinatal outcomes.
DESIGN: Prospective cohort study during pregnancy (baseline between 5 and 13 gestational week and three follow-up visits: 20 to 26 gestational weeks, 30 to 36 gestational weeks, and 30 to 40 days postpartum, respectively). Diet was assessed in the first trimester using a food frequency questionnaire and having prepregnancy as the time frame.

Food allergies often develop after liver transplant, especially in young children. However, data are scarce on clinical characteristics and patient outcomes. When we evaluated our pediatric liver transplant patients over a 16-year period, food allergy incidence was 8% (19/236 patients). All patients with food allergies were <18 months old, with incidence in this age group of 19.2% (19/99). Two patients had a single food and 17 had multiple food allergies. The efficacy of salt fortified with iron (FePO4 and NaHSO4) to control anemia was investigated by large scale field trials in three rural areas and one urban area located in different parts of India, each covering a total population of 4000 to 6000. Minamata disease or methyl mercury poisoning from industrial pollution was first described from Minamata, Japan in the 1950s. Subsequently, a similar poisoning episode occurred at Niigata, Japan in the 1960s. This paper describes the Minamata event and then presents two case reports believed to be prenatal poisoning from consumption of contaminated fish at Niigata. Case number one is of special interest because it is the only subject with congenital Minamata disease for whom exposure was actually measured near the time of birth.

PURPOSE: To determine the incidence and risk factors of occurrence of non-syndromic cleft lip and/or cleft palate (NSCLP) in Lubumbashi.
METHOD: A case-control study was conducted in the health district of Lubumbashi from February 2012 to December 2015. An exhaustive sampling, collecting all newborns with cleft lip and/or cleft palate (CL ± P) in maternity wards was conducted. From a total of 172 cases, 162 non-syndromic cases were recruited. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the rate of systemic reactions and their associations after SPT in the largest population to date.
METHODS: In this study reactions were recorded prospectively in a specialist UK allergy clinic for 6 years (2007-2013). An estimated 31,000 patients underwent SPT.
