Indocyanine green (ICG)-enhanced laser therapy was evaluated for the treatment of experimental intraocular melanoma. Immediately after an intravenous injection of ICG, a 790-nm chromophore, 810-nm semiconductor diode laser was used to irradiate Greene hamster melanomas that had been implanted in the iris of rabbits. ICG-enhanced laser treatment of melanoma (14 eyes) was compared with treatment by laser alone (4 eyes), ICG alone (1 eye), and no treatment (2 eyes). In chronic radiation proctitis bleeding occurs from mucosal friability and neovascular telangiectasias. Fourteen patients with bleeding from chronic radiation proctitis underwent endoscopic argon laser therapy at 4 to 8 W. The goal of treatment was obliteration of all telangiectasias. The average follow-up was 35 months. Of the 51 procedures, 48 (94%) were performed on outpatients with enema preparation and little or no sedation. By varying the shape of the "open metal mask", other cut configurations can be achieved besides circular. Thus, "vertical tilt" and "horizontal torsion", both potential reasons for persistent long-term astigmatism after PK, may be minimized. In 150 women with tubal pregnancy consecutively treated over a two year period by laparoscopic techniques, 74 were treated conservatively by linear salpingotomy with carbon dioxide laser laparoscopy and 76 cases non-conservatively through the laparoscope by salpingectomy. Forty one patients with bleeding vascular ectasias of the upper gastrointestinal tract who required blood transfusion were treated with endoscopic Nd:YAG laser photocoagulation and followed for 34 months (median). CO2 laser pharyngotomy is a newly described technique used in treatment bronchopathy without sleep apnea syndrome. Retrospective results of 70 CO2 laser pharyngotomies and 63 surgical pharyngoplasties are studied and compared. All patients were SAS free snoring patients. The neodymium yttrium-aluminium-garnet (NdYAG) laser was used to palliate the symptoms of 38 patients with rectal carcinoma unsuitable for radical surgery. Abrasion of the pathologically changed corneal epithelium by photo-ablation--by means of an excimer laser--was performed in 183 patients; among them were 55 patients with chronic keratitis, 36 with recurrent keratitis, 69 with corneal ulcerations and 23 cases of unsuccessful conservative treatment after thermal or chemical burns. The efficacy of the treatment was defined in dependence on the attained improvement of the visual acuity and the time of epithelialization of the pathological change.

The authors have developed four different types of endolaryngeal laser resections for the treatment of larynx carcinomas.
