Though meningiomas are usually well demarcated from the brain, their interfaces with the brain take various forms. Based on 27 nonoperated supratentorial meningiomas from autopsies, the interfaces were classified into four types, that is, smooth, lobular, finger-like expansion, and invasive. Relationships between the types of interfaces and the so-called capsule of the tumor and subarachnoid vessels are discussed. Additionally, three surgical cases which showed more or less the invasive form are presented with neuroradiological findings.

Reported are two cases of a malignant lymphoma that presented a liver injury in which death was brought on by hepatic failure. In both instances on admission, liver injury and hepatomegaly were noticed. Abdominal ultrasonography and computerized tomography, however, showed no SOL in the liver or any clear lymph node mass, though a bright echo and a diffuse low density was observed in one of the patients (Case 1). A 60-year-old man born in Okinawa was admitted to our hospital because of epigastralgia. Physical examination revealed general lymphadenopathy, mild hepatomegaly and skin eruption. This retrospective study evaluates several prognostic factors in 63 patients with invasive ductal breast cancer. Special attention is paid to the additional prognostic value of cellular DNA content to the previously developed and evaluated quantitative features mitotic activity index (MAI) and multivariate morphometric prognostic index (MPI). Progression of squamous carcinoma in situ of the vulva to invasive carcinoma, in the same area, after systemic Bleomycin therapy, is described. Such progression is an exception and not the rule in the natural history of this disease. Conservative therapy should be used, especially in young women.

The presence of tumour cells in the efferent vessels of the axillary nodes of breast cancer patients is termed efferent vascular invasion (EVI). The EVI status had been recorded in 112 cases which have now been followed for a mean of 120 +/- 8 months. At the start of the 10th year 17 per cent. of the EVI positives cases were alive, compared to 54 per cent. of the EVI negative. The EVI status has thus strong prognostic implications. It can be recorded in association with primary treatment on routine histological examination. No special equipment is required.

The purpose of this investigation was to ascertain the prevalence and manifestations of tumorous invasion of the lumen of the bile ducts, a mode of local extension characteristic of hepatocellular carcinoma. In a series of 140 necropsied patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, tumorous invasion of the bile duct was noted in three patients (2.1%). Marked cholestasis was present in these three patients; the other manifestations related to the tumorous invasion of the bile duct were biliary pain in one and gall-bladder enlargement in two patients.

Thirty-nine invasive mole patients treated during the last 6 years (1971-1976) in our clinic, were studied. The data were summarized in the following items. 1. Three cases of primary nonpapillary carcinoma of the urinary bladder diagnosed by urinary cytology and multiple biopsies were reported. Bladder specimens of two of the patients were totally embedded for step-sections that were mapped after histopathologic study. Atypical hyperplasia and carcinoma in situ with foci of microscopic invasion affected the bladder mucosa and extended continuously to the distal ureters as well as prostatic urethra.
