On the basis of first-principles electronic band structure theory, we calculated the refractive indices of the zinc blende and wurtzite structures of the chalcogenides ZnQ and CdQ (Q = O, S, Se, Te) and analyzed their trends by calculating the total absorption power per unit formula. The calculated refractive indices are in good agreement with the available experimental data. The total absorption power per formula unit is found to allow one to distinguish the effect of the chromophore from that of the cell volume on the refractive indices of insulating inorganic compounds.

Fluid overload may arise during hysteroscopic surgery, caused by absorption of fluid used to distend the uterus. Effect of vitamin D on the intensity of inorganic phosphorus absorption and the activity of unspecific alkaline phosphatase in the shick small intestine was studied in vitro on everted gut sacks. Repletion of rachitic chicks with vitamin D3 (500 IU) 72 hrs prior to decapitation enhanced the transport rate 3.5-fold. Concomitantly, the activity of alkaline phosphatase increased 1.8-fold. Analysis of the data obtained shows the important role that the interaction of alkaline phosphatase and inorganic phosphorus transport plays in phosphorus absorption from sources of organic nature.

In this work, a polymer donor PDTfBT-3T based on dithienobenzothiadiazole (DTfBT) and alkyl-substituted thiophenes was synthesized for application in non-fullerene organic solar cells (OSCs). PDTfBT-3T shows a film absorption maximum at 614 nm with an absorption edge near 650 nm, corresponding to an optical bandgap of ≈1.90 eV.
