OBJECTIVE: To report retinopathy following exposure to light from a commercially available class 3A green laser pointer.
METHODS: A 55-year-old woman with a ring melanoma was scheduled for enucleation. The eye (visual acuity 20/20) had a healthy-appearing macular retina. The retina was exposed to light from a commercially available class 3A green laser: 60 seconds to the fovea, 5 minutes to a site 5 degrees below the fovea, and 15 minutes to a site 5 degrees superior to the fovea. Color photographs were obtained before and after exposure. The eye was enucleated 20 days after exposure.

BACKGROUND: We report 2 cases in which ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) was used to diagnose Ahmed valve obstruction by the iris.
METHODS: Two patients underwent unilateral placement of Ahmed implants, one into the anterior chamber and the other into the ciliary sulcus.
RESULTS: Intraocular pressures increased in the early postoperative period. In each case, a clear view of the aqueous drainage tube was precluded. Occlusion of the end of the tube by iris tissue was demonstrated by UBM. An iridectomy over the tip of the tube instituted filtration in each case.

BACKGROUND: Angle-closure glaucoma in children at the cicatricial stage of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) has been thought to be caused by the anterior displacement of the lens-iris diaphragm resulting from contraction of a retrolental fibrous membrane. PURPOSE: To investigate the proper nursing methods for patients with direct cyclopexy.
METHODS: Thirty-four patients (34 eyes) undergone direct cycloepxy because of lower intraocular pressure (IOP) caused by traumatic cyclodialysis were given clinical observation and nursing.
RESULTS: Thirty-two of the 34 eyes had normal IOP after 1 week to 6 months after operation. Among those, 5 cases were treated with the secondary surgery or argon laser phacocoagulation. Visual acuity was improved on 21 eyes and unimproved on 13 eyes.
