Head Nurse Digital Leadership and Staff Nurse-GenAI Collaboration in Chinese Hospitals: The Mediating Role of Digital Self-Efficacy and the Moderating Role of Nurse Perceived Job Autonomy.

AIMS: To examine how head nurse digital leadership is associated with staff nurse-generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) collaboration, specifically exploring the mediating role of digital self-efficacy and the moderating role of nurse perceived job autonomy. BACKGROUND: GenAI is shifting nursing practice from solo task execution to active nurse-AI collaboration. While digital leadership is theorised to facilitate this transition, the specific mechanisms and boundary conditions, particularly in the context of Chinese tertiary hospitals, remain insufficiently explored. METHODS: A time-lag

Stepping forward: A study protocol for developing and validating a Malaysian diabetic foot self-care practice assessment instrument.

INTRODUCTION: Diabetic foot ulcers impose significant financial burdens and diminished quality of life. Effective management relies on patients' self-care, yet often overlooked by patients as neuropathic feet are painless. In Malaysia, primary care facilities focus on prevention by promoting proper foot self-care. However, the lack of a standardised assessment tool hampers nationwide evaluation. This paper outlines the methodology for developing and validating an instrument tailored to the Malaysian context to assess diabetic foot self-care practices. METHODS: A structured methodological proc

Diagnostic accuracy of self-reported food consumption and shaking chills in predicting bacteremia in outpatients: A prospective, multicenter observational study.

Bacteremia, a critical condition that can lead to sepsis, is often diagnosed using blood cultures, which may yield false positives, leading to unnecessary treatments. Although clinical indicators, such as shaking chills and food consumption, have been identified as predictors of bacteremia, their diagnostic accuracy in outpatients, particularly when considering the timing of blood collection, remains unclear. This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of self-reported food consumption and shaking chills in detecting bacteremia, focusing on the time interval between the last meal and bl

Fournier's Gangrene Leads to Lower Quality of Life and Self-Esteem.

INTRODUCTION: Fournier's gangrene (FG) is a life-threatening necrotizing infection of the perineal, genital, or perianal regions, often requiring extensive surgical intervention and prolonged recovery. Despite advances in acute management, the long-term impact of FG on patients' self-esteem and quality of life (QoL) remains underexplored. METHODS: This retrospective study included 48 patients treated for FG at seven urological centres in Austria between 2017 and 2022. Several in-house data were collected and patients were contacted after a mean of 4.5 years to complete a questionnaire includi

How is Physical Activity Measured in Spinal Muscular Atrophy and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy?

BACKGROUND: Physical activity (PA) provides many substantial benefits to help reduce risk for cardiometabolic disease, improve cognitive function, and improve quality of life. Individuals with neuromuscular disorders (NMDs), such as spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) are characterized by muscular weakness and fatigue, which limits the capacity to reach the recommended guidelines of PA. Measuring PA in these populations can provide insight to participation in daily activities, track disease progression, and monitor efficacy of drug treatments. OBJECTIVE: The ob

The experiences of women seeking help for vaginismus and its impact on their sense of self: An integrative review.

BACKGROUND: There is low social awareness of vaginismus despite it being a relatively common female sexual dysfunction that makes vaginal penetration painful, difficult, and/or impossible. While existing literature on vaginismus has had a clinical focus on the affected genitalia, there is a lack of research on women's help-seeking experiences of vaginismus from their perspective. OBJECTIVES: This integrative review's objective was to explore: women's help-seeking experiences of vaginismus, and how such help-seeking experiences impact their sense of self. DESIGN: Cooper's five-step integrativ

Community-based medication delivery program for antihypertensive medications improves adherence and reduces blood pressure.

Non-adherence to antihypertensive medications is a major cause of uncontrolled hypertension, leading to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Ensuring consistent medication possession is crucial in addressing non-adherence. Community-based medication delivery is a strategy that may improve medication possession, adherence, and blood pressure (BP) reduction. Our program in Kenya piloted a community medication delivery program, coupled with blood pressure monitoring and adherence evaluation. Between September 2019 and March 2020, patients who received hypertension care from our chronic disease

Social stigma and self-perception in adolescents with tourette syndrome.

Tourette syndrome (TS) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by multiple motor and vocal tics, which commonly presents with multiple behavioral problems, including co-morbid attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Both tics and co-morbid conditions have been shown to potentially affect patients' health-related quality of life. While TS typically presents in childhood, its manifestations peak in severity during adolescence, a critical period in which affected individuals are exposed to potential stigma from peers. Physical and behavioral

Exhausting management work: conflicting identities.

PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this paper is to critically explore managers' experience of work identity in the National Health Service (NHS). DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: This paper is unconventional in that it uses an auto-ethnographic approach and poetry as the empirical data from which the conceptual framework evolves. The concepts of identity, power and self are analysed in relation to the narrative utilising a post-structuralist, critical management lens, particularly drawing from Foucault. FINDINGS: The paper reflects and critiques the challenges of undertaking auto-ethnography, not
