A novel toxin, named Cll9, was isolated from the venom of the scorpion Centruroides limpidus limpidus Karsch. It is composed of 63 amino acid residues closely packed by four disulfide bridges. The aim of this work was to study the effect of alcohol on the excretion characteristics of urinary 2-thiothiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (TTCA) in people exposed to carbon disulfide (CS(2)) and in non-exposed subjects. Activation of NMDA receptors plays an important role in cyanide neurotoxicity.
