Disorders of serum sodium are common findings in patients presenting to the emergency department (ED). The aim of this study was to systematically investigate the prevalence, symptoms, etiology, treatment as well as the course of hypernatremia present on admission to the ED. All adult patients with measurements of serum sodium presenting to the ED between 01 January 2017 and 31 December 2020 were included in this retrospective cohort study. Myelofibrosis (MF) is a clonal hematologic malignancy with progressive bone marrow fibrosis. Dexmedetomidine is a sedative agent with limited dosing, safety, and efficacy information in the neonatal population. This comprehensive review describes the available evidence summarizing the use of dexmedetomidine in various neonatal populations. We identified 21 studies and 1 case report supporting the efficacy and short-term safety of DEX in neonates. Reported dosing ranges from 0.5-1.5 mcg/kg/h with or without loading doses. Clinically relevant adverse effects include bradycardia and hypotension. Future studies are needed to determine long-term safety and facilitate clinical applicability

OBJECTIVE: To compare the results of endoscopic and open treatment of perforated gastroduodenal ulcers.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: There were 445 patients with perforated gastroduodenal ulcers between 2013 and 2021. Endoscopic suturing of perforation was performed in 172 patients (38.7%), 273 ones underwent open surgery.

This review shows the importance of sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) as a significant cause of hearing loss that often goes under-recognized, especially by primary care physicians. Contrasted with conductive hearing loss, SSNHL involves inner ear damage. This work reviewed the diagnostic methods and treatments of SSNHL in the U.S. and Canada, including treatment options. It is imperative that primary care physicians and providers be able to recognize this condition early so that treatment may be initiated without delay as hearing loss can become permanent if not managed immediately.
