Memory-augmented graph neural networks for multi-class cardiovascular disease recognition from 12-lead ECG signals.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Cardiovascular disease recognition from electrocardiogram (ECG) requires capturing subtle pre-symptomatic electrical abnormalities that manifest across spatially distributed leads and evolve temporally. Current predictive models inadequately address three critical challenges: the anatomical coupling between ECG leads reflecting cardiac electrical propagation, the multi-scale temporal dynamics spanning millisecond depolarization to circadian rhythms, and the progressive nature of cardiac pathophysiology. We developed an integrated spatiotemporal framework to model thes

A neural network for predicting knee contact forces from clinic-friendly data.

Physics-based neuromusculoskeletal models have been widely used to assess biomechanics not readily measured in laboratory or clinical settings (e.g., joint contact forces). However, these physics-based models require extensive and rich input data, as well as expertise to operate. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a promising alternative to physics-based modelling. AI can learn complex input-output relationships directly from laboratory biomechanical data, thus enabling scalable estimation of internal biomechanics (e.g., joint contact loading) using clinic-friendly data (e.g., video, body measure

ECG-based detection of occlusion myocardial infarction: a dedicated deep neural network versus multimodal large language models and physicians - a retrospective diagnostic accuracy study.

BACKGROUND: Accurate electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation for acute coronary occlusion is a critical, time-sensitive task in emergency care. The field is increasingly shifting from the ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction paradigm to the broader concept of occlusion myocardial infarction (OMI). This study compared the diagnostic accuracy of a dedicated occlusion-detection deep neural network, Queen of Hearts (QoH), two general-purpose multimodal large language models (LLMs), and emergency physicians for ECG-based OMI detection. Response consistency and confidence calibration of the LLM

Alzheimer's disease staging using enhanced inception-ResNet-V2 and improved XceptionNet models for 3D MRI classification and segmentation.

BACKGROUND: Neurologists have a significant challenge due to the progressive nature of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and its severe effects on cognitive function. Recent advances in neuroimage analysis have opened the door to novel machine-learning techniques that could greatly improve AD diagnosis, progression prediction, and detection. NEW METHOD: In this research, we provide an enhanced hybrid deep learning approach for combined AD classification and segmentation. An enhanced inception-ResNet-V2 model is used for the multi-class classification of AD and an improved XceptionNet model is used to

Predicting molecular recognition features in protein sequences with MoRFchibi 2.0.

Molecular Recognition Features (MoRFs) are segments within disordered protein regions (IDRs) that undergo a disorder-to-order transition upon binding to their partners. Identifying MoRFs remains a significant challenge. This paper introduces MoRFchibi 2.0, a specialized prediction tool designed to identify the locations of MoRFs within protein sequences. Our results show that MoRFchibi 2.0 outperforms all existing MoRF and general predictors of protein-binding sites within IDRs, including the top-performing models from the Critical Assessment of protein Intrinsic Disorder (CAID) rounds 1, 2, a

Evaluation of deep neural network-based strategies for the compensation of sensorineural hearing loss.

Conventional hearing aid (HA) algorithms, developed based on computational and non-differentiable auditory processing models, do not typically compensate for cochlear synaptopathy (CS). Traditional HAs apply fixed or rule-based gain adjustments within predefined frequency bands and compression ratios, instead of model-based fitting that numerically optimizes processing from neural representations of normal and impaired hearing. To compensate for combined CS and outer-hair-cell (OHC) loss, deep neural network (DNN)-based closed-loop HA systems are gaining traction. Here, we present several DNN-

Deep locomotion prediction learning over biosensors, ambient sensors, and computer vision.

Innovative technologies for developing intelligent systems related to locomotion prediction learning are crucial in today's world. Human locomotion involves various complex concepts that must be addressed to enable accurate prediction through learning mechanisms. Our proposed system focuses on locomotion learning through vision RGB devices, ambient sensors-based signals, and physiological motions from biosensing devices. First, the data is acquired from five different scenarios-based datasets. Then, we pre-process the data to mitigate the noise from biosensors and extract body landmarks and ke

Interpretable Spectral Features for Cross-Session EEG Biometric Identification and Verification.

Electroencephalogram (EEG)-based biometric sensing provides a promising pathway for secure and user-specific human authentication, but practical deployment remains limited by cross-session non-stationarity and potentially optimistic evaluation protocols caused by window- or event-level leakage. This study developed a cross-session EEG biometric sensing framework using interpretable spectral features and target-session calibration, with trial-level non-overlapping data partitioning to prevent overlap between training, calibration, and blind-test sets. Multi-channel EEG events were segmented int

Atomic-level protein-ligand recognition with PBCNet2.0 for probe discovery.

Accelerating molecular probe discovery and lead optimization requires accurate and efficient binding affinity prediction. Here we present PBCNet2.0, a Cartesian tensor-based Siamese neural network for protein-ligand relative binding affinity prediction. Trained on 8.6 million protein-ligand complex pairs, PBCNet2.0 achieves zero-shot accuracy similar to computationally intensive physics-based simulations while remaining highly efficient. Retrospective prioritization experiments show that PBCNet2.0 improves optimization efficiency by 7.18-fold and reduces resource use by 41%. Mechanistic analys

Research on LSTM-based spatial target trajectory forecasting enhanced by attention mechanisms.

To address the strong dependence of space object orbit prediction on physical models and initial conditions, as well as the difficulty of completely eliminating prediction errors, this study proposes a satellite orbit prediction correction method that integrates an attention mechanism with a long short-term memory (LSTM) network. Taking the LAGEOS satellite as the research object, the proposed method uses position error, velocity, and acceleration features extracted from historical orbital data to train a deep learning model for predicting one-day-ahead orbital errors and correcting the SGP4 o

A Weighted Neural Network Model Based on Laboratory Tests for Identifying Lymph Node Metastases in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinomas.

Lymph node metastasis (LNM) is a key prognostic factor in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), and accurate preoperative prediction remains challenging. Blood biomarkers provide a conventional, preoperative diagnostic technique that is cost-effective and free from radiation risks. So far, previous studies have been published on the precise diagnosis of lymph node metastases using conventional ultrasound or CT techniques. While there is a lack of research studies that address the diagnosis of LNM from blood biomarkers. In this work, we acquired a cohort of blood biomarkers of 1933 patient

Recovery from disorders of consciousness: Lesions and GABAergic modulation in a biologically inspired spiking neural network.

The effects of positive allosteric modulators (PAMs) of the GABAA receptor in disorders of consciousness (DoC)-such as the hypnotic zolpidem in coma-are frequently reported but remain poorly understood. Although several hypotheses have been proposed to explain their paradoxical effect, biologically plausible computational models that test why only a subset of patients with DoC respond to inhibitory-enhancing medications may clarify this phenomenon and guide therapeutic strategies. We extended a spiking neural network model to mechanistically investigate inhibitory neuron enhancement in DoC. Th
