Toxoplasma gondii is a unicellular parasite that causes severe brain and eye disease. Current drugs for T. gondii are limited by toxicity. Bumped kinase inhibitors (BKIs) selectively inhibit calcium-dependent protein kinases of the apicomplexan pathogens T. gondii, cryptosporidia, and plasmodia.
