VPS33B protein is a homologue of the yeast class C vacuolar protein sorting protein Vps33p that is involved in the biogenesis and function of vacuoles. Vps33p homologues contain a Sec1 domain and belong to the family of Sec1/Munc18 (SM) proteins that regulate fusion of membrane-bound organelles and interact with other vps proteins and also SNARE proteins that execute membrane fusion in all cells. BACKGROUND: Different giant cell-rich tumors may occur in the jaws. Recently, a new condition known as keratin-positive giant-cell rich tumor harboring recurrent HMGA2::NCOR2 fusions has been described. Interestingly, the mononuclear cells of this tumor are immunoreactive with the AE1/AE3 keratin. Considering the similarities of central and peripheral giant cell granuloma of the jaws with the keratin-positive giant cell-rich tumor of the soft tissue and bone, we hypothesized whether the keratin-positive tumors could also occur in the maxillary bones.

Corneal replicas were made from the severely affected eyes of 12 patients presenting with typical signs and symptoms of epidemic keratoconjunctivitis. Adenovirus was isolated from the eyes.
