The ultrastructural findings in a muscle biopsy of a patient with Cushing's disease associated with severe myopathy are described. They included pronounced mitochondrial damage, thickening and deep invaginations of the sarcolemmal basement membrane, and thickening of the basement membrane of the capillaries. An immunoepidemiological survey for cysticercosis was carried out in an endemic focus of Irian Jaya by use of a counterimmunoelectrophoresis (CIEP) technique. All individuals with palpable subcutaneous cysticerci were serologically positive by this technique as were 77.3% of the individuals giving a history of epileptiform seizures and 22.5% with no clinical complaints. The possible application of CIEP for epidemiological surveillance is discussed.

Rabbit antisera were prepared against the soluble and insoluble fractions of a cryofibrinogen complex that formed in plasma of cattle acutely infected with Babesia argentina. Analyses of the rabbit antisera indicated that the cryofibrinogen complex contained proteins from erythrocytes and parasites as well as fibrinogen and related proteins.

Recent investigations of infections with Onchocerca volvulus in Guatemala presented the opportunity to study some aspects of complement fixation (CF) antibody titers. An extract of adult O. volvulus obtained from nodules excised from patients was used as antigen. Twenty-four ducklings given multiple doses of Clostridium botulinum type C spores and toxin per os and 27 affected waterfowl from four natural outbreaks of the disease were examined bacteriologically. No evidence of invasion of the blood or liver was found in any bird and it is suggested that invasiveness and toxigenesis in internal organs are probably of little, if any, importance in the causation of botulism in waterfowl.

Observations of Lyell's syndrome in two girls, one 2 and the other 7 years of age, investigated serologically, histologically and by immunofluorescent technique, are reported. The biliary tree of 66 patients with cystic fibrosis was examined by conventional roentgenographic methods. Forty-five per cent of the oral cholecystograms were judged abnormal by our criteria.
