Motivational, emotional, and cognitive profiles of dysregulated sexual behavior: a multilevel exploratory study.

BACKGROUND: Dysregulated sexual behavior (DSB) is clinically heterogeneous and may involve partially distinct motivational, emotional, and cognitive processes. This exploratory study examined whether descriptive profiles could be observed across these three domains in adults reporting loss of control over sexual behavior. METHODS: In this cross-sectional exploratory study, 76 French adults reporting DSB were recruited through clinical and non-clinical channels. Participants completed self-report measures assessing sexual dysregulation, psychological distress, impulsivity, emotional reactivity

Beyond protocols: the "double burden" and ethical dilemmas of nursing home professionals facing hurricane risk.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Climate change is intensifying hurricane threats to insular territories, with nursing homes facing particular challenges in protecting vulnerable residents. Recent evidence demonstrates increased mortality and hospitalization among nursing home residents following hurricane exposure; significant gaps persist between formal planning and operational reality in long-term care facilities. To explore nursing home professionals' perceptions and practices facing hurricane risk in Guadeloupe, and identify factors influencing organizational resilience and emergency preparedne

Rapid Review of Literature Reporting the Experience of Patient and Public Involvement in Prison and Forensic Mental Health Research.

Health research authorities around the world are increasingly committed to embedding public involvement in health and social care research. However, such involvement in internationally published prison and forensic mental health research remains rare. It is therefore particularly important to understand how people are experiencing collaborative research in this field, barriers they may encounter and how these might be overcome. The aim of this review is to explore how academic, practitioner and lived-experience researchers have experienced collaborating on prison and forensic mental health res

Improving the sexual health of couples with diabetes: study protocol of an action research study.

BACKGROUND: One of the most serious problems that threatens the sexual health of couples is diabetes. Diabetes is a global public health crisis affecting more than 0.5 billion adults worldwide. Inefficiency in implementing family planning or childbearing, sexually transmitted infections and sexual disorders in these patients can lead to psychological problems such as feelings of inadequacy, despair, loss of self-esteem and psychological consequences. Action research has the dual purpose of action, to bring about change in society or an organization or program, and research to increase the unde

Association Between Diagnostic Imaging, Medication Intake, and Health Outcomes in Chronic Whiplash-Associated Disorders: An Observational Study.

Purpose: Studies have demonstrated that medication and diagnostic imaging (DI) use and, more broadly, health care resource utilization, are not necessarily concordant with clinical practice guidelines. However, these studies did not evaluate the concurrent presence of clinical manifestations. This study therefore aimed to investigate the association between medication intake and DI, and health outcomes including pain, disability, physical, and mental health-related quality of life in people with chronic whiplash-associated disorders (WADs). We also aimed to evaluate whether medication intake a

Determining the factors impacting the quality of life among the general population in coastal communities in central Vietnam.

People living in coastal areas are frequently affected by natural disasters, such as floods and storms. This study aimed to assess the quality of life (QoL) of people living in disadvantaged coastal communes (subdivision of Vietnam) and identify their associated factors by using the World Health Organization's quality of life instrument (WHOQOL-BREF). To achieve this, a cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 595 individuals aged 18 years and above living in the coastal communes in Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam, from October 2022 to February 2023. Pakistani orphanage caregivers' perspectives regarding their caregiving abilities, personal and orphan children's psychological wellbeing.

BACKGROUND: Pakistan is home to 4.6 million children who have been orphaned. Limited data on caregiving in orphanages suggests that caregivers do not have specialized training and experience heavy workloads and high-stress levels. Supporting these caregivers to provide responsive and consistent caregiving can improve their well-being along with the psychological and physical development of children who have been orphaned. This research explored the main caregiving-related challenges faced by caregivers in orphanage settings, their professional and personal needs and perceived emotional and beh

Decision making biases in the allied health professions: A systematic scoping review.

OBJECTIVES: Cognitive and other biases can influence the quality of healthcare decision making. While substantial research has explored how biases can lead to diagnostic or other errors in medicine, fewer studies have examined how they impact the decision making of other healthcare professionals. This scoping review aimed to identify and synthesise a broad range of research investigating whether decisions made by allied health professionals are influenced by cognitive, affective or other biases. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A systematic literature search was conducted in five electronic databases.

Health Education for Musicians.

Context and aims: Many musicians suffer for their art, and health is often compromised during training. The Health Promotion in Schools of Music (HPSM) project has recommended that health education should be included in core curricula, although few such courses have been evaluated to date. The aim of the study was to design, implement and evaluate a compulsory health education course at a UK conservatoire of music. Methods: The course design was informed by a critical appraisal of the literature on musicians' health problems and their management, existing health education courses for musicians

Effects of a behavior change campaign on household drinking water disinfection in the Lake Chad basin using the RANAS approach.

Worldwide, an estimated 700 million people rely on unimproved drinking water sources; even more consume water that is not safe to drink. Inadequate drinking water quality constitutes a major risk factor for cholera and other diarrheal diseases around the globe, especially for young children in developing countries. Household water treatment and safe storage systems represent an intermediate solution for settings that lack infrastructure supplying safe drinking water. However, the correct and consistent usage of such treatment technologies rely almost exclusively on the consumer's behavior. Thi
