INTRODUCTION: A colon J pouch (CJP) still represents the standard rectal reservoir after low anterior resection. Though the CJP shows favourable early functional results, pouch evacuation problems tend to occur in the long term. BACKGROUND: The clinical importance of bowel symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD) remains to be described in detail.
METHODS: A 33-item questionnaire including background parameters, the Cleveland Constipation Score (CCS), and items from the Neurogenic Bowel Dysfunction score was sent to 468 PD patients. Results were compared to a control group (CG) (n = 45). A CCS of at least 15 was used to define severe constipation.

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: The authors analyzed the results of a modified entirely mechanical Duhamel pull-through for the treatment of Hirschsprung' disease or type B intestinal neuronal dysplasia. INTRODUCTION: The effect of pelvic radiotherapy on anorectal function is not clearly documented and is investigated in this prospective study.
METHODS: Thirty-one males (median age, 70 years) with carcinoma of the prostate (n = 28) and bladder (n = 3) completed proctitis/incontinence symptom score questionnaires and anorectal physiology studies before and six weeks after pelvic radiotherapy.
