A survey on communicable dermatoses in economically weak villages in India showed wide variations in prevalence rates in similar ecologic setup. A skin diseases, on-spot-treatment, 1-day-camp was organized to treat 1787 subjects in five villages. Two applications of 1% lindane 1 week apart was the only treatment used without attending to hygiene for scabies and pediculosis. Application of 1% gentian violet with four daily doses of sulfamethoxy-pysidazine was administered for pyoderma. The cure rate for scabies and pediculosis was 86%. The present study describes the successful treatment of a 9-year-old girl with trichotillomania. Intervention involved praising attractive hair and ignoring hair loss, education in hair hygiene, response prevention for night-time hair pulling, and a variable schedule of monetary rewards for criterion hair growth. The radiological features of three cases of pulmonary actinomycosis in children are presented. Two of the cases had the classical roentgen features of chronic consolidation with overlying rib periostitis. The third had non specific consolidation but demonstrated extension through the diaphragm. Two of our cases were mentally subnormal children in institutional care. The ability of three different oral hygiene devices to remove 2-day-old bacterial deposits was evaluated on 21 young adults with healthy periodontia. On buccal tooth surfaces, the cleaning effect of a multitufted nylon brush was superior to that of a wooden toothpick or unwaxed dental floss. Myiasis is a parasitic infection of humans and animals caused by dipterous larvae and is often seen in rural areas. For the first time in the literature as a case of gingival myiasis in an 18-month-old healthy child with good oral hygiene is reported. We present the case of a 65-year-old woman with pain and tinnitus in the left ear lasting for one week.
