A 72-year-old woman presented with massive hematochezia. Colonoscopy revealed active bleeding from a diverticulum in the ascending colon, diagnosed as colonic diverticular hemorrhage. Endoscopic band ligation (EBL) was performed for the hemostasis. The patient developed abdominal pain in the right lower quadrant 1 day after EBL. Computed tomography (CT) demonstrated dirty fat around the ascending colon and thickened peritoneum without perforation or abscess formation, consistent with uncomplicated diverticulitis. We present a case of extensive gastric heterotopia involving the small intestine associated with congenital short bowel syndrome and malrotation. The infant showed a normal mesenteric artery, without signs of "apple peel" deformity. Gastric heterotopia extended from the duodenum to the mid-ileum involving the short bowel. Alimentary tract duplications are rare congenital anomalies. The presentation depends on their anatomical location, size and other characteristics. Patients with a case history of severe side-effects from iodine-containing contrast media present problems in later radiological examination. We report here on an alternative, the first extravascular use of Gd-DTPA in an X-ray urethrography. By using the standard processing algorithm of our digital radiographic equipment and 60 ml undiluted Gd-DTPA meglumine (469 mg/ml) we achieved good contrast and could exclude the suspected urethral diverticulum in a 26-year-old man. Vascular rings (VRs) are rare aortic arch anomalies that may present with a wide variety of symptoms related to esophageal and/or airway compression. We reviewed our surgical experience in both symptomatic and asymptomatic children.
