A simple method was devised for negative-stain transmission electron microscopy of brain infected with the agent of scrapie. Brains of infected hamsters contained large masses of tubulofilamentous structures with irregular fuzzy surfaces. The clinical and immunohistochemical features of supratentorial (5 patients) and cerebellar (1 patient) glioblastomas, in which giant cells were conspicuous were examined. The aim of this study was to determine the localization of tenascin-C, fibronectin and collagen types III and IV during regeneration of the rat submandibular gland. After 7 days' obstruction, the regenerating glands were collected at days 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 11 and 14 after duct release to study regeneration. Immunohistochemical staining revealed that tenascin-C was strongly expressed in the epithelial cells of duct-acinar structures at days 0-3, and down-regulated in its expression from day 5 to 11, though weak expression was detected in the intercalated duct and acinar cells of the normal gland.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the role of superior spermatic nerve in the regulation of spermatogenesis.
METHODS: Mature SD rats (350-375 g) received bilateral surgical removal of the superior spermatic nerve(SSN). The animals were killed 1 and 2 months after operation and were studied in comparison with the SD rats of the sham operation group. H.
