PURPOSE: To determine the postoperative fundus torsion following surgical inferior oblique (IO) weakening in patients with inferior oblique overaction (IOOA).
METHODS: In this interventional case series, 37 patients with IOOA ≥ +1 and reliable preoperative fundus photographs were included. BACKGROUND: To evaluate the results of unilateral inferior oblique anterior transposition (IOAT) for markedly asymmetric dissociated vertical deviation (DVD) combined with inferior oblique over-action (IOOA).
METHODS: Retrospective chart review of the records of all patients with asymmetric DVD combined with unilateral IOOA in the non-dominant eye who received unilateral IOAT on the non-dominant eye. No other muscles were operated on simultaneously. The amount of DVD and IOOA were measured before and after the operation and statistically analysed.

A number of previous reports have suggested that the processing of second-order stimuli by the amblyopic eye (AE) is defective and that the fellow non-amblyopic eye (NAE) also exhibits an anomaly. Penetrating craniofacial trauma, although uncommon, has a high potential for death or serious morbidity from injury to vital neurovascular structures. An in situ facial foreign body, particularly if large, presents significant challenges beyond safe and timely removal. Airway management, stabilization of the object, management of increased intracranial pressure, and identification of injuries to local structures are all issues that may require addressing. AIM: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of single ocular muscle weakness on smooth pursuit eye movements.
METHODS: Infrared video recordings of horizontal and vertical eye movements were obtained from 14 adult patients with either unilateral abducens nerve palsy or trochlear nerve palsy. PURPOSE: To describe a surgical procedure for loosening or tightening the superior oblique (SO) tendon that enables bedside adjustment following the surgery, with surgical outcome reported.
METHODS: A permanent suture separates the two cut ends of the SO tendon, with a sliding noose for adjustment. The noose is accessed by having the patient look up or straight ahead, not down, during adjustment at the bedside. Records of 17 patients who underwent this surgery between June 2000 and January 2003 were reviewed and analyzed for outcome.

I report seven patients with monocular traumatic cataract who had either preinjury or postinjury extraocular muscle deviation. All but one were managed with cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation, without muscle surgery. If muscle surgery is required in such cases, I recommend that it be delayed until at least a year after the cataract and lens implantation surgery.
