Organic Acid-Induced Twisting in Heterometallic Clusters Enables Multimodal Chiroptical Sensing and Enantioselective Drug Recognition.

Rapid, reusable, and quantitative recognition of chiral acids and drugs remains challenging, as conventional covalent or host-guest strategies suffer from poor reversibility and limited adaptability. Here, atomically precise heterometallic nanoclusters undergo organic acid-induced coordination twisting and core symmetry breaking, dynamically modulating their coordination environment for enantiomeric resolution. Chiral amino acids stabilize cluster chirality, yielding enantiopure clusters matching the amino acid configuration. These clusters exhibit strong chiroptical responses, including circu

The Molecular Epidemiology of HIV-1 in Russia, 1987-2023: Subtypes, Transmission Networks and Phylogenetic Story.

Regional HIV-1 epidemics are evolving with distinct patterns in transmission routes, subtype distribution, and molecular transmission cluster (MTCs) characteristics. We analyzed 9500 HIV-1 cases diagnosed over 30 years using phylogenetic and network methods, integrating molecular, epidemiological, demographic, and behavioral data. Subtype A6 remains dominant nationally (80.6%), followed by 63_02A6 (7.9%), subtype B (5.6%), 02_AGFSU (1.2%), 03_A6B (0.7%), and 14/73_BG (0.6%). Non-A6 infections were more common among males (OR 1.51) and men who have sex with men (OR 7.33). Network analysis ident

Co-occurring Neurodevelopmental Conditions in Children: Advocating for Transdiagnostic Approach to Assessments.

Approximately 8% of all children experience developmental and mental health conditions. Similarities in characteristics across neurodevelopmental conditions-such as difficulties in communication and language, social interaction, motor coordination, attention, activity regulation, behavior, mood, and sleep-make it challenging to attribute these characteristics exclusively to specific diagnoses and assessments. The purpose of this study was to identify symptomatic domains across neurodevelopmental conditions in children and to explore dimension reduction for transdiagnostic assessment. Cluster a

Neighborhood resolved fiber orientation distributions (NRFOD) in automatic labeling of white matter fiber pathways.

Accurate digital representation of major white matter bundles in the brain is an important goal in neuroscience image computing since the representations can be used for surgical planning, intra-patient longitudinal analysis and inter-subject population connectivity studies. Reconstructing desired fiber bundles generally involves manual selection of regions of interest by an expert, which is subject to user bias and fatigue, hence an automation is desirable. To that end, we first present a novel anatomical representation based on Neighborhood Resolved Fiber Orientation Distributions (NRFOD) al

Computational ranking identifies Plexin-B2 in circulating tumor cell clustering with monocytes in breast cancer metastasis.

Multicellular circulating tumor cell (CTC) clusters can be up to 50 times more efficient than single CTCs in mediating viable metastasis. Here, combining computational ranking and functional determination, we identify the transmembrane protein Plexin-B2 (PLXNB2) as one of the top molecular targets associated with unfavorable distant metastasis-free survival, showing enriched expression in CTC clusters versus single CTCs from patients with advanced breast cancer (mostly female). Loss of PLXNB2 (Plxnb2) reduces the formation of homotypic tumor cell clusters and heterotypic tumor-myeloid cell clu

Circulating Short-Chain Fatty Acid Profile Predicts Functional Outcome After Moderate-to-Severe Traumatic Brain Injury.

OBJECTIVES: Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are immunometabolites produced by the gut microbiome. In animal models, SCFAs affect traumatic brain injury (TBI) severity by modulating the immune response and serving as an energy source. The goal of this study was to assess whether SCFAs are associated with functional outcome in adult patients with moderate-to-severe TBI (msTBI). DESIGN: Prospective cohort study. SETTING: Urban Trauma Center. PATIENTS: Adults (age ≥ 15 yr) who had TBI with Glasgow Coma Scale 3-12, intracranial hemorrhage on head CT scan, and at least one reactive pupil. Blood s

Rearrangement of the 5' cluster region of the BCL2 gene in lymphoid neoplasm: a summary of nine cases.

Rearrangement of the BCL2 gene with the immunoglobulin (IG) genes is the most frequent genetic abnormality in B cell lymphoid neoplasms. In the majority of cases, breakages occur at two breakpoint cluster regions; major breakpoint cluster (MBR) and minor cluster region (mcr). In a minority of cases with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), rearrangements involving the 5' flanking region of the BCL2 (5'-BCL2) have been reported. Here, we investigated 196 patients with NHL and 31 with CLL, with regard to rearrangement of the BCL2 gene. Hybridization analyses using
