Efficacy and safety of nemolizumab in paediatric patients aged 6-12 years with atopic dermatitis with moderate-to-severe pruritus: results from a phase III, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicentre study.

BACKGROUND: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition affecting up to one-quarter of children. Uncontrolled pruritus associated with childhood AD, and the accompanying scratching, negatively impacts quality of life (QoL), sleep and development. The humanized monoclonal antibody nemolizumab, used concomitantly with topical agents, was shown to reduce pruritus and improve QoL in patients with AD aged ≥ 13 years. However, data relating to its efficacy and safety in younger children (aged < 13 years) have been lacking. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of nemo

Efficacy and safety of an alternative onabotulinumtoxinA injection paradigm for refractory overactive bladder.

AIMS: In studies utilizing a 20-injection-site paradigm of onabotulinumtoxinA treatment for overactive bladder (OAB), some patients performed clean intermittent catheterization (CIC). An alternative injection paradigm of fewer injections targeting the lower bladder may reduce the need for CIC by maintaining upper bladder function. This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of an unapproved alternative 10-injection-site paradigm targeting the lower bladder. METHODS: In this phase 4, double-blind, parallel-group study, patients with OAB and urinary incontinence (UI) for ≥6 months with ≥3 epis

A pilot randomized trial comparing CPAP vs bilevel PAP spontaneous mode in the treatment of hypoventilation disorder in patients with obesity and obstructive airway disease.

STUDY OBJECTIVES: Both obesity and airways disease can lead to chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure, which can be managed with positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy. The efficacy of PAP has been studied in obesity hypoventilation syndrome as well as in chronic hypercapnic chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients, but not in patients where both obesity and airway obstruction coexist. This pilot study aims to compare the efficacy of continuous positive airway pressure vs bilevel positive airway pressure spontaneous mode in the treatment of hypoventilation disorder with obesity and obst

Effectiveness of a telehealth physiotherapist-delivered intensive dietary weight loss program combined with exercise in people with knee osteoarthritis and overweight or obesity: study protocol for the POWER randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Obesity is associated with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Weight loss, alongside exercise, is a recommended treatment for individuals with knee OA and overweight/obesity. However, many patients cannot access weight loss specialists such as dietitians. Innovative care models expanding roles of other clinicians may increase access to weight loss support for people with knee OA. Physiotherapists may be well placed to deliver such support. This two-group parallel, superiority randomized controlled trial aims to compare a physiotherapist-delivered diet and exercise program to an exercise pro

Neural mechanisms of persistent avoidance in OCD: A novel avoidance devaluation study.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is characterized by repetitive avoidance behavior which is distressing and associated with marked impairment of everyday life. Recently, paradigms have been designed to explore the hypothesis that avoidance behavior in OCD is consistent with a formal conception of habit. Such studies have involved a devaluation paradigm, in which the value of a previously rewarded cue is altered so that avoidance is no longer necessary. We employed a rule-based avoidance task which included a devaluation, examining behavioral performance on the task and their neural correlat

Digitally Mediated Occupational Therapy to Increase Physical Activity in Urban and Rural Breast Cancer Survivors: Protocol for a Single-Arm Feasibility Trial.

BACKGROUND: The 5-year survival rate for breast cancer (BC) has increased in recent years. However, functional limitations associated with BC treatment (eg, loss of strength, fatigue, and lymphedema) often have far-reaching effects on survivors' physical and mental health. Aerobic physical activity (PA) and muscle-strengthening exercise (MSE) can reduce functional limitations, and occupational therapy (OT) can support these health-promoting behaviors after treatment. Yet, barriers to access among BC survivors (eg, time burden and distance to the OT clinic) limit participation in OT programing.

Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for idiopathic Parkinson's disease.

BACKGROUND: Idiopathic Parkinson's disease (IPD) is a neurodegenerative disorder, with the severity of the disability usually increasing with disease duration. IPD affects patients' health-related quality of life, disability, and impairment. Current rehabilitation approaches have limited effectiveness in improving outcomes in patients with IPD, but a possible adjunct to rehabilitation might be non-invasive brain stimulation by transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) to modulate cortical excitability, and hence to improve these outcomes in IPD. OBJECTIVES: To assess the effectiveness of

Comparing the safety and efficacy of vibegron, mirabegron and tolterodine in patients with overactive bladder: a systematic review and network meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Overactive bladder (OAB) is defined as 'urinary urgency with or without urinary urgency incontinence (UUI), usually associated with urinary frequency and/or nocturia, in the absence of urinary tract infection'. OAB is known to be a common disorder with a significant impact on quality of life. First line treatments include weight loss in those with a BMI > 30, bladder retraining and fluid advice. Pharmacotherapy treatment includes antimuscarinics and mirabegron, a beta 3 agonist. The National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), has recently incorporated the use of a newer bet
