ASSeTS: a systematic review and development of the World Health Organization's classification system for social isolation and loneliness interventions.

BACKGROUND: Social isolation and loneliness (SIL) have emerged as critical population health concerns linked to various adverse health outcomes, including cardiovascular disease, stroke, dementia, depression, and premature mortality. However, the absence of a standard categorization for interventions aimed at reducing SIL has impeded consistent comparison, evaluation, and the accumulation of knowledge, affecting evidence-based policy decisions. To address this gap, we developed and empirically evaluated the ASSeTS (Access, Skills, Social engagement, Therapeutic and psychological, Systemic) cla

Loneliness among older adults with chronic diseases and multimorbidity: a scoping review of prevalence and associated factors.

BACKGROUND: Loneliness is increasingly recognized as an important psychosocial health issue among older adults. Older adults with chronic diseases and multimorbidity may be particularly vulnerable because long-term disease burden, coexisting chronic conditions, functional limitations, and reduced social participation often interact. This scoping review aimed to map the available evidence on assessment tools, prevalence estimates, and factors associated with loneliness among older adults with chronic diseases and multimorbidity. METHODS: A systematic search was conducted in CNKI, Wanfang, VIP,

Combined Lactobacillus plantarum Supplementation and Aerobic Training Mitigate Cognitive and Behavioral Impairments in Ovariectomized Rats.

BACKGROUND: Menopause, modeled by ovariectomy (OVX) in rodents, causes cognitive decline and emotional disturbances due to estrogen withdrawal. While probiotics and aerobic exercise independently show beneficial effects, their combined contribution remains poorly characterized. This study investigated whether concurrent administration of Lactobacillus plantarum and aerobic exercise alleviates cognitive and behavioral deficits in OVX rats. METHODS: Fifty female Wistar rats (9-12 weeks old) were randomly allocated into five groups (n=10/group): Sham, OVX+PBS, OVX+Exercise (Exe), OVX+L. plantaru

Epistemic Injustice in Rheumatoid Arthritis Care: A Narrative Review of Invisible Suffering, Ageism, and Treatment Delay.

Despite advances in disease-modifying therapies and treat-to-target strategies, many patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) continue to experience persistent pain, fatigue, and functional impairment. These symptoms are particularly common among older adults and are frequently under-recognized in clinical practice. This study examines RA care through the lens of epistemic injustice to explore how patients' experiential knowledge is interpreted, valued, or discounted, and how these processes contribute to treatment delay in aging societies. We conducted a narrative review of peer-reviewed liter

"Cigarettes led me back to smoking tik": lived experience perspectives on tobacco use during substance use treatment and recovery in South Africa.

INTRODUCTION: Despite the high prevalence of tobacco use among people with substance use disorder (SUD), tobacco cessation is not a routine part of SUD treatment in South Africa. No studies have explored how people receiving SUD treatment view the effects of tobacco use on SUD treatment or their barriers to tobacco cessation. Clinicians need this information to develop locally relevant, person-centred tobacco cessation interventions. To address this gap, this study aimed to explore perceptions of tobacco use and its impact on SUD recovery among people receiving SUD treatment in South Africa.

Transgender Women Experiencing Homelessness - National HIV Behavioral Surveillance Among Transgender Women, Seven Urban Areas, United States, 2019-2020.

Transgender women experience high prevalence of homelessness, which can affect their likelihood of acquiring HIV infection and can lead to poor medical outcomes. CDC analyzed data from the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance Among Transgender Women to identify whether personal characteristics and social factors affecting transgender women were associated with duration of homelessness during the past 12 months. Longer duration and chronic homelessness might indicate greater unmet needs, which increases their likelihood for acquiring HIV infection. Ordinal logistic regression was conducted to c
