Treatment recommendations for recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis across complementary and conventional disciplines: a national survey of Australian healthcare professionals.

INTRODUCTION: Management of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis remains challenging. It is treated by healthcare professionals across disciplines including general practice, pharmacy, and complementary medicine. Conventional antifungal regimens supported by formal treatment guidelines are the standard of care. No standardised guidance exists for complementary medicine, and the treatments used in contemporary practice remain largely undocumented. AIM: To identify treatments recommended for recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis across healthcare disciplines and the sources used to inform clinical d

Exposure and response of private practice psychiatrists in Greece to illicit substance use-related treatment requests: A cross-sectional survey.

This study aims to assess private practice psychiatrists' exposure to and response to treatment requests for substance use-related problems, along with examining the requests' characteristics. A cross-sectional online anonymous survey was administered involving private practice psychiatrists in Gree

Training, Deployment Preparation, and Behavioral Health of New York National Guard Personnel Deployed to Assist with COVID-19 Decedent Work.

INTRODUCTION: A small body of research conducted mostly among civilians has shown that adequate training and preparation can prevent or reduce the development of behavioral health problems in first responders. Several civilian studies have shown that social support is protective against behavioral health problems. However, very few studies have examined the impact of these factors on the behavioral health of military first responders. Military first responders, who serve in the aftermath of natural disasters and disease outbreaks such as the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, are of

Trends in the use and nonmedical use of sedatives-hypnotics in the population aged 12 to 64 years in Taiwan: a comparative analysis of the national surveys in 2014 and 2018.

BACKGROUND: Many countries, including Taiwan, have tightened regulations on prescribing sedatives-hypnotics over the concern of their associated adverse health effects. However, it remains seldom investigated whether different age-sex strata have differential trends in national surveys over time for either the use or nonmedical use (NMU) of sedatives-hypnotics. Comparing Taiwan's two national surveys in 2014 and 2018, we aimed to examine (1) the population's trends for the prevalence of past-year use and NMU of sedatives-hypnotics overall and in age-sex strata; (2) trends for sociodemographic

In all, 1943 students and 210 school non-attenders answered a self-administered anonymous questionnaire, distributed by school nurses. Six out of 170 questions dealt with personal experiences of child sexual abuse, i.e. age at onset, frequency of abuse and relatio

Increased rates of chronic physical health conditions across all organ systems in autistic adolescents and adults.

BACKGROUND: The poorer physical health of autistic adults compared to non-autistic adults has been highlighted by several epidemiological studies. However, research has so far been limited to specific geographical areas and has primarily focused on young autistic individuals (aged 35 years and younger). Recent studies indicate a higher rate of mortality in autistic people, as well as poorer quality of self-reported healthcare interactions. This study aims to determine, first, whether autistic people experience greater levels of non-communicable health conditions and second, whether these are e

Web-Based Forums for People Experiencing Substance Use or Gambling Disorders: Scoping Review.

BACKGROUND: For people experiencing substance use or gambling disorders, web-based peer-supported forums are a space where they can share their experiences, gather around a collective goal, and find mutual support. Web-based peer support can help to overcome barriers to attending face-to-face meetings by enabling people experiencing addiction to seek support beyond their physical location and with the benefit of anonymity if desired. Understanding who participates in web-based peer-supported forums (and how), and the principles underpinning forums, can also assist those interested in designing

BACKGROUND: Despite the known psychosocial challenges associated with supporting a loved one using alcohol and other drugs (AOD), there is a scarcity of mental health and well-being interventions for affected friends and family members (AFFMs). Stigma has also been shown to discourage help-seeking among AFFMs. Web-based interventions may facilitate help-seeking by ensuring privacy and anonymity. OBJECTIVE: This pilot study examines the usability, acceptability, and feasibility of the Family and Friend Support Program (FFSP), a world-first, evidence-based web-based resilience and well-being pr
