The nucleotide sequences (534 to 546 bp) of the groEL gene, which encodes the 60-kDa heat shock protein GroEL, from 15 rickettsial strains were determined and compared. A primate model of chlamydial pelvic inflammatory disease was used to characterize serum antibody responses to the 60 kDa chlamydial heat shock protein (CHSP60). BACKGROUND: Our goal was to investigate IgG1 and IgG3 antibody responses to Chlamydia trachomatis proteins Pgp3 and Hsp60 in women with tubal factor infertility (TFI). Our goal was to determine the role of these biomarkers in the diagnosis of C. trachomatis-associated TFI, and assess their sensitivity and specificity for detecting tubal pathology.

A new tuberculosis vaccine is urgently needed. Prime-boost strategies are considered very promising and the inclusion of BCG is highly desirable. OBJECTIVES: T-cell responses to mycobacterial heat shock protein 60 (M.hsp60) have been implicated in the pathogenesis of adjuvant arthritis, but whether they play a role in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is undefined. We therefore examined T-cell responses to M.hsp60 and to other recall antigens in a cohort of patients with early RA and in healthy controls.

OBJECTIVE: To determine whether women with Chlamydia trachomatis-associated tubal infertility are more likely than other infertile women to have antibodies to a particular region of the 60-kd chlamydial heat shock protein, hsp60.
