This study presents the first demonstration of the ability of a hybrid human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) compound, AB1ER-CR-2XY, to induce ovulation in humans. Thirteen patients with primary infertility were treated for 16 cycles with varying dosages of human menopausal gonadotropin (hMG), and 10,000, 5000, and 2500 IU of the hybrid hCG. STUDY DESIGN: We performed a secondary analysis of 86 patients who underwent uncomplicated aspiration abortion for ultrasound-confirmed pregnancy ≤42 days gestation and had serum hCG at the time of aspiration and within 3 days postprocedure.

PURPOSE OF INVESTIGATION: To report a rare case of maternal hyperthyroidism after intrauterine insemination due to hypertrophic action of hCG.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A 36-year-old woman after successful intrauterine insemination and triplet pregnancy, developed hyperthyroidism with resistance to medical treatment.
