Antimicrobial mechanical and molecular docking analysis of dental composite resin incorporating green synthesized titanium dioxide nanoparticles from Vitis vinifera extract.

Dental composites are widely used restorative materials but secondary caries to the restored tooth, polymerization shrinkage, and mechanical failure, limiting their longevity. Incorporating nanoparticles synthesized via eco-friendly methods offers a promising strategy to enhance composite performance. This study introduces a novel, eco-friendly strategy to enhance dental composite resins by incorporating TiO₂-NPs synthesized using Vitis vinifera extract. This study uniquely employs Vitis vinifera, rich in flavonoids and phenolics, as a reducing and capping agent, and for the first time integra…

Evaluating the physicomechanical characteristics of cetylpyridinium chloride-modified resin-based dental composites following short-and medium-term storage regimes: an in-vitro study.

BACKGROUND: Dental caries is a frequently encountered bacterial oral disease worldwide. Resin-based dental composites (RDCs) are often utilised for restoring dental carious lesions; however, subsequent caries and restoration failure may result from their vulnerability to bacterial colonisation. While adding antibacterial compounds to certain materials may have additional advantages, doing so could also alter their mechanical and physical properties. The current research intended to assess how the addition of the antimicrobial agent cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) affects the mechanical and phys

Engineering a Self-Defensive Restoration-Tooth Interface via Bioactive nMgO/E-POSS Bulk-Fill Resin Composites for Enhanced Dental Restorations.

Light-curing resin composites (RCs) are widely used for tooth defect restoration. However, challenges such as high polymerization shrinkage and lack of anti-cariogenic activities compromise interfacial integrity and significantly increase restoration failure risks. To address these limitations, we developed a bioactive multifunctional bulk-fill RC by integrating sol-gel-synthesized monodisperse nano-MgO (nMgO), Stöber-derived monodisperse submicron spherical silica (sSiO2), and dendritic epoxy-cyclohexyl functionalized polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (E-POSS). RCs achieved a larger depth
