A morphological analysis of the corpus callosum has been carried out in an MRI study of 34 children with malformative syndromes and 35 normal children. We used a new morphometric method based on measurement of five specific angles. Values outside the range of normality have been found in patients with malformations of the skull, including turricephaly, acrocephaly and frontonasal dysplasia. The results have confirmed the reliability of this method for study of the conformation of the corpus callosum and of its topographical relations with the other cerebral structures.

A 3-year-old Libyan boy with the XXXXY syndrome is described. MRI examination of the brain showed hypoplasia of the corpus callosum. He had growth retardation and endocrine studies demonstrated growth hormone (GH) deficiency. Dermatoglyphic pattern was different from previous reports. At histological examination of the undescended testes, Leydig cells were seen although they are usually not found in this variant of the Klinefelter syndrome.

Inbred BALB/c mice are genetically the same, yet less than half of adults show absent or small corpus callosum. Interhemispheric transfer of haptic information was examined in six partially callosotomized patients and three control subjects. Computed tomography (CT) is of proven value in the evaluation and localization of intracranial hemorrhage. The recognition of various patterns of subarachnoid, intracerebral, and intraventricular hemorrhage is necessary in order to provide accurate localization and to predict probable etiology of the bleed. We present three cases with angiographically proven ruptured arteriovenous malformations involving the midline of the corpus callosum. The clinical presentation and CT findings are discussed. We believe this represents a distinctive pattern of hemorrhage specific for this entity.
