It can have an impact on postural control during walking and can increase the risk of falls and injuries. OBJECTIVE: (1) To examine the abnormal performance of postural control during walking in male college students who used convex lenses for myopia intervention from a kinematic perspective; (2) to establish theoretical foundation for preventing falls and injuries in the myopic population. METHODS: A total of 22 male college students pa

Alcohol use and internal migration in Nepal: a cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Alcohol use is a leading cause of disease. Although low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) have lower per capita alcohol consumption, the alcohol-attributable disease burden is high in these settings with consumption increasing. LMICs are also experiencing unprecedented levels of internal migration, potentially increasing mental stress, changing social restrictions on drinking, and increasing alcohol availability. We assessed the relationship between internal migration, opportunity to drink, and the transition from first use to regular alcohol use and alcohol use disorders (AUD)

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the presence of increased neuromuscular fatigue (NMF) in individuals with myasthenia gravis (IwMG), compared to healthy controls. A secondary aim was to assess associations between NMF, strength and perceived health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and symptom severity in IwMG. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, we assessed NMF using classical myoelectrical indicators (root mean square: RMS, mean power frequency: MPF) obtained from surface electromyography (sEMG) during a sustained submaximal isometric contraction of the right Biceps Brachii and the right Vastus

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate children with cat sensitivity and to identify their demographic and clinical characteristics. METHODS: Patients who were found to be sensitive to cats following skin prick tests performed in our allergy clinic over a period of one year (and two control groups), were included in the study. Patients in the study and control groups filled in a questionnaire including demographic

Comparison of Various Thyroidectomy Approaches: A Retrospective Cross-sectional Study.

BACKGROUND: To avoid anterior neck scarring, numerous remote-access techniques to approach the thyroid gland (Remote access approach) have been described, including the transaxillary approach (TA), bilateral axillo-breast approach (BABA), and transoral robotic thyroidectomy (TORT). Popular worldwide, Remote access approachs have unique characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages. Herein, we investigated the characteristics of these distinct thyroidectomy approaches to aid surgeons in selecting the most appropriate method for patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS: In total, 2351 cases of patients

Maternal sepsis in pregnancy and the puerperal periods: a cross-sectional study.

Maternal sepsis is a life-threatening condition and ranks among the top five causes of maternal death in pregnancy and the postpartum period. Herein, we conducted a retrospective study on sepsis cases to explain the related risk factors by comparing them with bloodstream infection (BSI) and control maternities. In total, 76 sepsis cases were enrolled, and 31 BSI and 57 maternal cases of the same age but with neither sepsis nor BSI were set as controls. Genital tract infection (GTI) and pneumonia were the two most common infection sources in both sepsis (22 cases, 29% and 29 cases, 38%) and BSI
