INTRODUCTION: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is two to three times more common in people with severe mental illness (SMI) than in the general population. Supporting self-management in diabetes is fundamental to improving clinical outcomes. BACKGROUND: An isochromosome of the long arm of chromosome 7, i(7)(q10), and an interstitial deletion of the long arm of chromosome 20, del(20)(q), are the most frequent anomalies in the bone marrow of patients with Shwachman-Diamond syndrome, which is caused in most cases by mutations of the SBDS gene. BACKGROUND: In the DIAMOND (Patiromer for the Management of Hyperkalemia in Subjects Receiving RAASi Medications for the Treatment of Heart Failure) trial, patiromer enabled optimization of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors (RAASi) for patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and current or recent hyperkalemia. Impaired kidney function substantially increases hyperkalemia risk due to impaired potassium excretion. Therefore, in this post hoc analysis, we examined the efficacy of patiromer across baseline kidney function and hyperkalemia subgroups.

During a COVID-19 outbreak on the Diamond Princess cruise ship we sampled environmental surfaces after passengers and crew vacated cabins. SARS-CoV-2 RNA was detected in 58 of 601 samples (10%) from case cabins 1-17 days after cabins were vacated but not from noncase cabins.
