Enterobius vermicularis is the most common parasitic infection in temperate and cold climates, affecting populations in both developing and developed countries. Although typically asymptomatic, it can lead to acute appendicitis, a relationship that has been a subject of debate. Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus is a clinically distinct form of cutaneous lupus erythematosus, with age of onset typically in the second to fifth decades. We report a case of a chronic infiltrate of the intestinal wall of the transverse colon by the eggs of Enterobius vermicularis in a man who had immigrated to Taiwan from mainland China 50 years ago. OBJECTIVE: To study the prevalence of Enterobius vermicularis and its association with finger sucking in young Swedish children.
DESIGN: Cross-sectional survey with a questionnaire for symptoms of infestation with Enterobius vermicularis, and the children's habit of finger sucking (including fingernail biting). Perianal tape-test for identification of eggs of Enterobius vermicularis.

During 1995, we examined 2,666 Graham's tests (five perianal swabs with adhesive cellulose tape) prescribed to ambulatory patients attended in 14 public outpatient clinics and four hospitals from the north section of Santiago.
